Expected Start Date:
Sep 28, 2026 Swoon is actively hiring an AI Systems Engineer to join the team! This is a 9-month contract located in California! What your day-to-day will look like
Build AI tools that improve how teams work by developing LLM-powered applications, agentic workflows, and intelligent automation for IT, Information Security, HR, and Legal.
Design and maintain custom Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers that securely connect AI agents with internal systems, data, and business processes.
Automate the complete employee lifecycle, expanding existing offboarding automation to streamline onboarding, leave-of-absence, provisioning, access, and asset-management processes.
Turn manual processes into scalable solutions by partnering with stakeholders to identify pain points, gather requirements, and build reliable automations with measurable business impact.
Develop production-ready integrations and automation using Python, PowerShell, or Bash within Microsoft Azure and CI/CD environments.
Experiment with emerging AI capabilities through proofs of concept that evaluate LLM APIs, prompt engineering, agentic systems, and integration platforms such as Workato.
Collaborate across global technical teams, including colleagues in Japan, to solve complex problems, communicate technical recommendations, and document architectural decisions through RFCs, runbooks, and internal guides. What's Required / Technical Skills
AI and LLM Development
- 3 years of Hands-on experience building or integrating LLM-based tools, AI agents, agentic workflows, or MCP servers using APIs such as OpenAI or Anthropic.
Strong Programming and Scripting - Fluency in Python, PowerShell, or Bash, supported by solid software-development practices, readable code, Git, testing, and CI/CD.
Systems Integration and Automation - Experience designing scalable integrations and automating employee lifecycle, identity, access, provisioning, asset-management, or other internal business processes.
Cloud and Security Fundamentals - Hands-on cloud experience—preferably Microsoft Azure—along with a working understanding of identity, cybersecurity, networking, storage, and secure system design.
Cross-Functional and Global Collaboration - Strong communication and requirements-gathering skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to nontechnical stakeholders and work effectively with globally distributed teams.
