Description
Systems Engineer Lead This is a player-coach leadership position, not a people manager removed from the technology. The ideal candidate leads by example, enjoys mentoring engineers, remains deeply technical, works independently, collaborates effectively across teams, and thrives in environments where new challenges arise every day.
The strongest candidates will come from enterprise environments supporting Windows, VMware, Azure, AWS, and cloud infrastructure while leading small teams of engineers and driving infrastructure projects from planning through execution. The Systems Engineering Lead is responsible for leading a team of four Systems Engineers while remaining hands-on with the design, implementation, support, operation, and maintenance of enterprise infrastructure. This role supports both on-premises and cloud environments and serves as a senior technical resource across the organization. The individual will participate in technical research, infrastructure modernization, system administration, troubleshooting, and operational support while helping drive team productivity and accountability. Responsibilities Lead and coordinate a team of four Systems Engineers, ensuring priorities are aligned and work is completed effectively.
Provide task management, accountability, coaching, and guidance while helping the team establish goals and achieve high levels of productivity.
Design, install, configure, monitor, upgrade, maintain, and support infrastructure technologies including AWS, Azure, Windows Server, VMware, Microsoft 365 applications, networking, and related systems.
Support both cloud and on-premises environments while maintaining critical business systems and infrastructure.
Provide operational support and technical troubleshooting for servers, software applications, cloud platforms, and enterprise environments.
Support major infrastructure initiatives, including Windows Server modernization efforts, system upgrades, and infrastructure improvements.
Maintain infrastructure documentation, procedures, and operational standards.
Collaborate with Infrastructure, Security, DevOps, Application Support, Help Desk, and other business teams to resolve issues and support ongoing projects.
Partner with third-party vendors and technology providers for support, issue resolution, and project execution.
Serve as a senior escalation point for complex technical issues and infrastructure challenges.
Participate in daily operations, project planning, system monitoring, and on-call responsibilities. Required Experience 7+ years of hands-on Systems Engineering experience.
3+ years of technical team leadership experience.
Experience supporting enterprise Windows environments, VMware infrastructure, cloud technologies, and server administration.
3+ years of AWS experience.
Experience designing, installing, configuring, supporting, and maintaining server hardware, software, and infrastructure solutions. Preferred Experience Azure certifications.
VMware certifications.
Linux experience.
CCNA, Server+, MCSE, or related technical certifications. Technical Expertise Required Windows Server

Infrastructure Monitoring and Support What Success Looks Like Successfully leading a team of four Systems Engineers while maintaining a highly collaborative and accountable culture.
Providing technical leadership across infrastructure initiatives and modernization projects.
Supporting critical infrastructure and application-related issues across multiple teams.
Building strong partnerships with stakeholders across the organization.
Driving infrastructure stability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

Parental Leave The anticipated annual base salary for this position in the US is $135,000 - $145,000. This range does not include any other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
