Position Overview:
The Manufacturing Systems Engineer Internship offers sophomores and above the chance to gain real-world work experience with a leading sour cream company. We are actively seeking motivated students for internships at our state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities in Garland, Texas, and/or Wooster, Ohio. Additionally, Daisy is embarking on a new phase of growth, with the upcoming launch of our fourth plant in Boone, Iowa. Our objective is to provide technical work experience, identify top talent, and help with our pipeline of full-time employees after graduation. During their internship, participants will be assigned to a challenging project that benefits the student growth and Daisy Brand. As part of this experience, they will create an end-of-summer presentation. Additionally, interns will gain valuable insights into the systems, processes, and equipment necessary for producing sour cream and cottage cheese.
Key Responsibilities may include:
Assist in analyzing current manufacturing processes and identifying areas for improvement. Support the development and implementation of lean manufacturing principles to enhance production efficiency. Participate in time studies, workflow analysis, and process mapping to optimize operations. Work on specific engineering projects under the guidance of senior engineers. Assist in project planning, scheduling, and execution. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing waste and increasing efficiency.
Qualifications:
Engineering/Science Students:
Pursuing Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Food Engineering or related engineering / science discipline. Completion of 48 credit hours by May of 2026. Seeking well rounded interns. This could include extracurricular activities, work experience and/or volunteering. Preference of students interested in seeking employment within the food industry. We are looking to hire full-time after graduation upon successful completion of internships. Must be able to temporarily relocate for the internship. Must be available to work 40 hours per week for at least 10 weeks over the summer (will work with start and end dates as needed). Minimum GPA 2.8.
This role requires:
Bending, lifting and twisting. Long periods of walking and standing. Working in a variety of manufacturing conditions including noise requiring hearing protection and varying temperatures. Ability to lift up to 50lb occasionally.
