Job Description

Job Summary This role involves leading the technical design, validation, and operational readiness of secure systems supporting national financial services and external organizations. The Systems Engineer will oversee technical lab environments, ensure systems remain up-to-date and secure, and guide validation, testing, and certification activities. The position requires strong expertise across PKI, networks, operating systems, middleware, and proxy technologies, along with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive process improvements aligned with security and performance standards. Key Responsibilities Lead the technical design and validation of system solutions, ensuring alignment with security, compliance, and operational standards. Identify gaps between current and future-state architectures and develop solutions to address them. Design and execute customer validation tests, including detailed test plans and use cases. Manage technical lab environments, ensuring hardware and software remain current and ready for testing and certification. Coordinate technical and end-user resources during testing, analyze results, and communicate findings to stakeholders. Assess required labor and skill sets for testing and validation activities. Implement customer-side monitoring tools and support performance evaluations. Lead major operational outage events and facilitate resolution of complex customer issues. Drive process improvements across technical channels and operational workflows. Analyze system performance and cost efficiency; maintain standards and ensure alignment with service-level targets. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS, or a related field; a graduate degree is preferred. 5-7+ years of direct technical work experience, including 2+ years in leadership roles. Expertise in PKI, LDAP, networking, routers, firewalls, and middleware technologies such as
Sterling Connect:
Direct, IBM MQ, and SecureTransport. Experience with proxy solutions such as Sterling Secure Proxy and Tivoli Access Manager. Experience with client-side technologies such as Axway SecureClient. Strong understanding of operating systems including Windows, Unix/Linux, and Solaris. Advanced knowledge of IT testing methodologies, infrastructure testing, and integration testing. Strong understanding of project management methodologies. Experience supporting production systems in 24/7 environments. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. Strong communication, documentation, and presentation skills. Ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams without direct authority.
