Job Description
Description We are looking for an experienced Systems Engineer to support enterprise infrastructure initiatives in Deer Park, Illinois. This Long-term Contract opportunity is ideal for a detail-oriented candidate who can manage large Windows-based environments, maintain reliable system performance, and contribute to data center operations in a complex setting. The role requires strong technical depth across server administration, identity services, virtualization, and core infrastructure platforms.
Responsibilities:
- Lead large-scale Windows server migration efforts, including transitions from VMware environments to Hyper-V across extensive server estates.
- Administer and maintain Windows Server platforms, Active Directory services, Azure Active Directory, Group Policy, and related enterprise system configurations.
- Support deployment, installation, and expansion activities within the data center while helping ensure stable operations and limited service interruption.
- Manage and troubleshoot enterprise server hardware, Cisco-based infrastructure components, and Pure Storage solutions within production environments.
- Coordinate system cutovers, infrastructure changes, and implementation tasks in partnership with technical teams and project stakeholders.
- Investigate and resolve complex system issues by applying structured troubleshooting methods across server, virtualization, and infrastructure layers.
- Create and maintain clear technical documentation covering environment configurations, procedures, and project-related updates.
- Provide operational support for core Microsoft technologies, including Exchange and Citrix-related environments, as needed within the broader infrastructure landscape. Requirements
- Demonstrated experience supporting large-scale Windows server environments, ideally including migrations involving more than 400 servers.
- Strong expertise in Microsoft Windows Server administration and enterprise identity management with Active Directory and Azure Active Directory.
- Hands-on knowledge of virtualization platforms, including VMware and Hyper-V, in complex production settings.
- Experience working with Group Policy, Microsoft Exchange, and Citrix technologies in an enterprise environment.
- Familiarity with Cisco server infrastructure, Pure Storage platforms, and modern data center operations.
- Proven ability to execute server deployments, hardware installations, and infrastructure cutovers with minimal downtime.
- Solid troubleshooting, documentation, and cross-functional project coordination skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced enterprise environment while managing multiple infrastructure priorities.
