STAFF CLOUD INFRASTRUCTURE ENGINEER

- Abbott Labs / Lake Forest, IL Develop and deploy system and software architecture to support informatics development programs. Evaluate design options, lead proof-of-concepts and propose designs compatible with platform architecture. Operate within an Agile Scrum Methodology team and carry out the design, development, evolution, and maintenance for Cloud Platform Infrastructure and deploy Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) services and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) applications utilizing Microsoft Azure and Kubernetes via GitOps infrastructure and application configuration management and use Helm Charts and Flux Continuous Deployment (CD). Design and implement Azure Cloud infrastructure and platform services, including Identity Access Management (IAM), Virtual Private Network (VPN), Network Access Controls, Data Pipelines, Storage, and Cloud Security. Document infrastructure designs and seek input from Platform Architect during implementation. Utilize Azure Resources (e.g., ADF, Storage, SFTP etc.) to build centralized platform services for applications deployed on the platform. Work with Application Development Teams to build Platform Infrastructure components and set up robust observability and monitoring infrastructure (e.g., Prometheus/Grafana etc.) using IaC (Infrastructure-as-Code). Use Work with Application Development teams to develop Platform Services (e.g., Data Pipelines, Storage Services, Secure File Upload Services, Disaster Recovery, Security etc.) on Microsoft Azure. Use C, Go, Rust, and Javascript programming languages and Shell scripting within Linux OS. Set up and maintain build workflows using GitHub GitActions. Develop and document technical designs for integration and implementation of new cloud applications and systems, including infrastructure, including provisioning, scaling, monitoring, and security. Optimize cloud costs via configuration and platform design along with Azure Cost Savings. Responsible for configuring and deploying database technologies, Build and Release Management, Continuous Improvement/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD), and Cloud-based containerized workloads (Docker, Kubernetes etc.) for informatics products. Responsible for root cause analysis including troubleshooting of build and deployment related issues for platform and applications. Bachelor's or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Information Technology Management, Engineering, or in a related field of study with at least 10 years of progressive professional cloud software development experience. In the alternative, will accept a Master's or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Information Technology Management, Engineering, or in a related field of study with at least 8 years of professional cloud software engineering experience. Each alternative requirement must possess at least 5 years of professional experience in: (i) Agile Scrum Methodology for Cloud Platform Infrastructure; (ii) Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) services and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) applications; (iii) Microsoft Azure, Kubernetes, GitOps, Helm Charts; (iv) Azure Cloud Identity Access Management (IAM), Virtual Private Network (VPN), Network Access Controls, Data Pipelines, Storage, and Cloud Security; (v) IaC (Infrastructure-as-Code); (vi) C, Go, Rust, and Javascript programming languages; (vii) Build and Release Management, Continuous Improvement/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD), and cloud-based containerized workloads (Docker, Kubernetes etc.).
