Mapfre is seeking a Senior Software Engineer - Guidewire & Cloud Solutions to help develop next-generation insurance technology platforms that support our customers, business, and digital transformation initiatives. In this collaborative role, you'll partner with Product Managers, Architects, Business Leaders, and fellow Engineers to design, build, and deliver innovative solutions that power critical insurance operations. You'll have the opportunity to influence technical direction, mentor engineers, leverage emerging technologies, and help shape the future of our technology ecosystem. This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives in Agile environments, enjoys solving complex technical challenges, and is passionate about cloud technologies, modern software engineering practices, and AI-driven innovation. What You'll Do Design, Develop & Deliver Innovative Solutions Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performing software applications.
Architect and implement complex software solutions using Java and modern software engineering principles.
Develop cloud-native applications and services leveraging platforms such as AWS.
Collaborate with Guidewire and enterprise technology teams to develop and support critical insurance platform solutions. Drive Technical Excellence Lead and mentor junior and mid-level engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, innovation, and engineering excellence.
Identify opportunities to reduce technical debt through code modernization, architecture improvements, automation, and engineering best practices.
Participate in code reviews and champion high-quality software development standards through testing, automation, and CI/CD practices.
Ensure software quality through comprehensive testing, defect management, and adherence to established quality standards. Embrace Emerging Technologies Evaluate and implement emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), to enhance products, user experiences, and operational efficiency.
Help drive innovation through modern development practices, automation, cloud solutions, and AI-enabled capabilities. Collaborate Across the Enterprise Partner with Architects, Product Owners, Business Stakeholders, and Engineering teams to deliver solutions aligned with business goals and customer needs.
Work within an Agile development environment using Jira to manage requirements, user stories, sprint planning, and delivery commitments.
Utilize GitHub for source code management, version control, collaboration, and deployment workflows. Support Reliability & Scalability Create and maintain technical designs, architecture documentation, and system workflows using tools such as Lucid.
Monitor application performance, availability, and reliability through observability tools including Datadog and Splunk.
Help ensure solutions are scalable, secure, resilient, and optimized for long-term success. What You'll Bring Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
5-7+ years of professional software development experience.
Strong proficiency in Java and object-oriented design principles.
Experience designing and developing enterprise-scale applications and distributed systems.
Hands-on experience with cloud technologies, including AWS, Azure, and/or Google Cloud Platform.
Experience working in Agile software development environments.
Proficiency with GitHub, source control management, and CI/CD practices.
Experience using Jira for Agile project and work management.
Knowledge of monitoring, logging, and observability tools, including Datadog and Splunk.
Experience in creating technical documentation and solution diagrams using Lucid or similar tools.
Demonstrated ability to lead projects and mentor engineers in a collaborative environment.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and technical leadership skills. Preferred Qualifications Guidewire certifications are highly preferred.
Experience with Guidewire applications and insurance platform solutions.
Background in the insurance industry is a plus.
