SYSTEM ENGINEER
Experience Required:
8-10 Role Summary- The System Engineer is responsible for the administration, support, and maintenance of Windows and Linux server environments, enterprise applications, and IIS / Windows web servers. This role ensures system availability, performance, security, and compliance while supporting business-critical infrastructure.
- ________________________________________ Key Responsibilities
- Server Administration
- Administer and support Windows Server (2012/2016/2019/2022) environments.
- Manage Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
- Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers (RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu).
- System Maintenance & Security
- Perform OS patching, upgrades, and vulnerability remediation.
- Implement system hardening and security best practices.
- Ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
- Application & Web Server Support
- Support and maintain Windows-based enterprise applications.
- Deploy, configure, and upgrade application environments.
- Administer IIS / Windows Web Servers, including: o Application pools o Bindings o SSL certificates o Authentication mechanisms
- Virtualization & Infrastructure
- Manage VMware vSp infrastructure, including: o ESXi hosts o Clusters o Resource pools o Datastores via vCenter
- Ensure high availability, scalability, and performance.
- Resilience & Compliance
- Manage backups, snapshots, and disaster recovery (DR) strategies.
- Support HA configurations and audit readiness.
- Maintain operational standards and compliance frameworks.
- Monitoring & Troubleshooting
- Monitor system performance, availability, and DR readiness.
- Troubleshoot issues related to OS, applications, and web servers.
- Participate in incident, problem, and change management processes.
- Documentation
- Create and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and runbooks.
- ________________________________________ Required Skills
- Strong experience in Windows Server administration
- Working knowledge of Linux server environments
- Hands-on experience with IIS / Windows Web Servers
- Experience supporting Windows-based applications
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, ports, firewalls)
- Familiarity with patching, security, and compliance standards
- ________________________________________ Good to Have
- Experience with PowerShell or shell scripting
- Exposure to VMware or Hyper-V virtualization platforms
- Knowledge of Azure / AWS cloud environments
- Familiarity with ITIL processes and standards Employers have access to artificial intelligence language tools ("AI") that help generate and enhance job descriptions and AI may have been used to create this description.
