The pay range is $75,400.00 - $135,700.00 Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position. These include labor markets and in some instances may include education, work experience and certifications. The mission of the IoT Platform Team is to enable Target teams to deploy and manage IoT and RFID devices at scale across Target facilities, delivering guest and team member services effectively and efficiently while abstracting device management and network complexities. The platform powers critical capabilities such as RFID-based inventory visibility, refrigerator monitoring, guest request buttons, team member safety, and productivity use cases . It supports thousands of connected devices across Target locations and processes millions of messages , providing a scalable and reliable foundation for our IoT and RFID ecosystem. As an Engineer, you serve as a technical specialist delivering the engineering that powers the product. You develop keen insight into the technical architecture and design to deliver robust and scalable software components. You constantly demonstrate the depth of your expertise by solving engineering problems. You are passionate about the quality of software and balance between speed of delivering new features and robustness of the software components you implement. You can handle operational issues with little or no oversight. You actively review code to ensure the software quality and functional accuracy is maintained across the team. You are keen to learn the design and architecture of the product and participate in ceremonies that can influence both. Triaging large scale issues with a bias to prevent them from happening in the first place Canary and A/B testing to push code multiple times a day during business hours Learning and experimenting with technologies High observability with robust logs, metrics and tracing Leveraging edge computing and elastic infrastructure As an Engineer on the IoT platform team: Are empowered to make technological choices and pick the best tools for the job. Are building self-service platform constructs to allow other teams at Target to accomplish their business goals. Have a goal of Full CD deployments with automated tests, monitoring, and rollback. Think outside the box to solve problems with high cardinality that will break traditional tools meant for applications such as monitoring tools. Our engineering teams are empowered to select the appropriate technology for the problem they are trying to solve.

About you:
4 year degree or equivalent experience 1+ years of software development experience Demonstrates familiarity with current and emerging technologies in own scope of responsibility, and develops ability to apply these technologies Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Java, Kotlin, Go, Python, TypeScript, JavaScript Foundational understanding of software engineering practices including data structures, debugging, testing, version control, code reviews, and writing maintainable code Familiarity with cloud, platform, or distributed systems concepts such as APIs, containers, Kubernetes, networking, storage, messaging/streaming, observability, or service reliability Ability to learn new technologies, tools, and domains quickly, and apply that learning to solve engineering problems with guidance from more senior engineers. Stays current with new and evolving technologies via formal training and self-directed education This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target's needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member's core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually, depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day.
