This role will serve as the primary technical owner of our Microsoft Azure environment while also supporting and maintaining Windows-based infrastructure and business-critical systems. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience with Azure services, networking, security, automation, and virtualization, while remaining comfortable performing traditional systems administration tasks. Linux administration experience is a significant plus. The position works closely with infrastructure, security, development, desktop support, and business teams to design, deploy, secure, and support enterprise technology solutions. Primary Responsibilities Microsoft Azure Administration Design, deploy, manage, and optimize Microsoft Azure infrastructure. Administer Azure Virtual Machines, storage accounts, virtual networks, resource groups, and supporting services. Configure and maintain VNets, Network Security Groups (NSGs), route tables, private endpoints, VPN connectivity, DNS services, and VNet peering. Implement and maintain Azure security controls and operational best practices. Monitor Azure environments for performance, availability, security, and cost optimization. Support Azure backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity initiatives. Identity and Endpoint Management Administer Microsoft Entra ID, including Conditional Access, MFA, RBAC, and identity governance. Deploy and maintain Microsoft Intune and Windows Autopilot. Support device compliance policies, application deployment, and endpoint security. Integrate cloud and on-premises identity solutions. DevOps and Automation Support Azure DevOps environments, repositories, pipelines, and CI/CD processes. Develop automation using PowerShell, Azure
CLI, ARM
templates, Bicep, or comparable Infrastructure as Code tools. Streamline provisioning, monitoring, configuration, and operational tasks. Collaborate with development teams on application deployment and release management. Security Operations Implement and maintain cloud and infrastructure security standards and controls. Respond to security findings, vulnerability remediation activities, and operational incidents. Administer and support CrowdStrike, Barracuda, Cisco Duo, and Datto RMM. Assist with security audits, compliance initiatives, evidence gathering, and technical documentation. Apply security best practices across Azure and on-premises infrastructure. Systems Administration Administer primarily Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and file services. Troubleshoot server, operating system, application, authentication, and connectivity issues. Manage patching, updates, backups, monitoring, and lifecycle activities. Provide Tier III infrastructure support and escalation assistance. Support Linux-based systems and services when needed; strong Linux experience is a significant plus. Networking Assist with administration and troubleshooting of Meraki infrastructure, Meraki vMX, FortiGate virtual appliances, VPN technologies, routing, switching, DNS, and network security controls. Work with internal teams and service providers to diagnose connectivity, routing, firewall, and performance issues. Apply a practical understanding of subnets, TCP/IP, ports, protocols, and network segmentation. Documentation and Project Delivery Maintain technical documentation, diagrams, standards, and operating procedures. Participate in cloud migration, modernization, security, and infrastructure lifecycle projects. Use Jira for project tracking, issue management, change coordination, and documentation. Communicate project status, risks, dependencies, and recommendations to leadership and stakeholders. Required Qualifications Five or more years of systems administration or infrastructure engineering experience. Three or more years of hands-on Microsoft Azure administration or engineering experience. Strong knowledge of Azure Virtual Machines, Azure networking, NSGs, routing, and security. Hands-on experience with Microsoft Intune and endpoint management. Experience supporting Azure DevOps and automation practices. Strong Windows Server administration and troubleshooting skills. Basic to intermediate networking knowledge, including TCP/IP, routing, VPNs, DNS, firewalls, and network segmentation. Experience with security tools, endpoint protection, vulnerability remediation, and access controls. PowerShell proficiency and an automation-focused mindset. General SQL knowledge, including the ability to understand basic queries and assist with application or infrastructure troubleshooting. Strong analytical, documentation, communication, and project coordination skills. Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and support business-critical production systems. Preferred Qualifications Linux server administration experience. Experience with Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates, or other Infrastructure as Code platforms. Experience supporting hybrid cloud environments and on-premises Active Directory integrations. Experience with Meraki vMX and FortiGate virtual appliances. Microsoft certifications such as Azure Administrator Associate, Azure Network Engineer Associate, Azure Security Engineer Associate, or Azure Solutions Architect Expert. Experience supporting SQL Server, ERP systems, web applications, or application-hosting environments.
