ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a highly skilled Interface Integration Engineer to design, implement, and maintain secure integrations between the Federal Student Aid (FSA) IAM platform and key external systems, including ID.me, ServiceNow, and the ELK Stack. This role sits at the intersection of API engineering, identity security, and observability, ensuring secure, reliable data flow across identity verification, IT service management, and monitoring platforms in a federal environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and implement secure integrations with ID.me for identity verification using OIDC, OAuth2, and SAML Develop and maintain ServiceNow integrations using Scripted REST APIs, MID Server, Flow Designer, and Integration Hub Configure and manage ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) for log ingestion, monitoring, and alerting Build and maintain REST APIs and middleware for cross-platform data exchange Design and implement data mapping and transformation logic (JSON/XML) across systems Manage integrations using iPaaS tools (e.g., MuleSoft, Boomi, Workato) Ensure secure data transmission using TLS/mTLS and compliance with federal standards (NIST, Fed
RAMP, FISMA
) Troubleshoot and resolve integration, API, and data flow issues across systems Create and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and architecture diagrams Collaborate in agile teams supporting development, testing, and deployment activities
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience or 9 years with a HS diploma/equivalent 5 years in integration engineering, API development, or middleware development Experience years integrating IAM or identity platforms (ID.me, Okta, ForgeRock, Ping, etc.) Hands-on experience with ServiceNow integrations (REST APIs, MID Server, Flow Designer) Experience with ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) Experience working in agile/scrum environments Experience in REST APIs, JSON/XML, HTTP protocols, webhooks, API gateways, Postman Experience in Authentication & Security ServiceNow experience
ELK Stack:
Logstash pipelines, Elasticsearch indexing/querying, Kibana dashboards & alerting Experience in Python, JavaScript/Node.js, Java, Shell/PowerShell iPaaS Tools proficiency Networking/Security experience U.S. Citizenship required Ability to obtain and maintain the required agency clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with ID.me APIs and identity proofing workflows Familiarity with SIEM tools such as Splunk or Microsoft Sentinel Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Terraform) Knowledge of Zero Trust Architecture principles Experience with AWS GovCloud or Azure Government Prior federal government project experience (DoD, DHS, FSA, etc.) Agile/SAFe experience Certifications (Preferred): ServiceNow certifications (CSA, CAD, CIS-SecOps, CIS-EM) Elastic certifications (Elastic Certified Engineer or Observability Engineer) Security certifications such as CISSP, CySA+, or CompTIA Security+ Cloud certifications (AWS Certified Developer / Solutions Architect, Azure certifications)
DETAILS Target Salary Range:
$80,000 - $128,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
