Key Responsibilities Lead design, implementation, and maintenance of core infrastructure components including networking, virtualization, storage, and server platforms. Take ownership of SQL Server administration tasks related to availability, backup/restore, performance tuning, and coordination with application teams. Provide advanced networking expertise including VLAN design, routing, switching, firewall configuration, and TCP/IP troubleshooting to maintain connectivity and security. Administer and optimize virtualization platforms (VMware) and manage VM lifecycle, capacity planning, and performance tuning. Manage Active Directory services, group policy, authentication, and identity-related infrastructure. Design and operate SAN and storage subsystems, ensuring capacity, performance, and data protection strategies are implemented. Serve as primary escalation for infrastructure support incidents, performing root cause analysis, remediation, and post-incident documentation. Drive infrastructure engineering projects end-to-end, producing architecture documents, runbooks, and deployment plans while coordinating cross-functional stakeholders. Implement monitoring, alerting, and observability to proactively identify and resolve issues and to support SLAs. Automate repetitive tasks using scripting or infrastructure-as-code tools to improve reliability and deployment speed. Mentor and coach junior engineers, promote best practices, and foster cross-team collaboration and knowledge sharing. Contribute to security and compliance initiatives by applying hardening practices and participating in vulnerability remediation and change controls. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience preferred. 5-10+ years of hands-on experience in Infrastructure Engineering with increasing responsibility; demonstrated experience leading projects or small teams. Strong networking skills (routing, switching, VLANs) and proven experience with TCP/IP troubleshooting and firewall configuration. Proven SQL Server Administration experience (installation, configuration, backups, HA/DR, performance tuning). Hands-on experience administering VMware virtualization platforms and managing VM workloads at scale. Experience with Active Directory administration, group policies, authentication services, and identity management. Practical experience with SAN/storage technologies, storage provisioning, and performance considerations. Proven track record supporting production infrastructure, handling incidents, and performing root cause analysis. Experience with monitoring, alerting, capacity planning, and automation (scripting, IaC) to improve reliability and efficiency. Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across functions, influence stakeholders, and document technical solutions. Relevant certifications a plus (e.g., CCNA/CCNP, MCSE, VCP, SAN/Storage certifications).
