Job Description
Description NexGen Data Systems is seeking a Systems Engineer (Task 3). This position is responsible for effective provisioning, operation, installation/configuration, and maintenance of systems hardware/software/related infrastructure with an emphasis on cloud computing technologies. Provide technical support, guidance and hands-on delivery in the planning, implementation, and ongoing operations. The Systems Engineer shall participate in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the existing cloud infrastructure. Ensure that on-premise and cloud hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values and regulatory requirements.
Roles & Responsibilities:
The Systems Engineer shall document specifications, project plans, configurations, test plans and results. Depicts complex ideas, issues, and designs to varied audiences; communicates project objectives, scope and status to project teams. Typical Systems Engineer responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Monitor and report on existing data restore and disaster recovery capabilities for both on-premises and cloud environments. Provide recommendations on process improvement/efficiencies. Coordinate/perform/document Disaster Recovery (DR) failovers within DLA cloud environments. Ensure high availability and performance expectations of critical enterprise applications/systems operating within the cloud environment. Develop, integrate, and oversee storage arrays, fiber switches, and associated components. Maintain and oversee data backup solutions to ensure mission objective are met for both on-premises and cloud environments. Research, build, and implement file sharing technologies to meet customer requirements. Troubleshoot and advise on advanced storage issues/deficiencies in relation to both on-premises and cloud technologies. Perform routine checks and preventative maintenance. Perform storage analysis, capacity planning, and performance planning of storage components. Author/document policies and procedures to support the operational storage environment and participate in the design and ongoing refinement of procedures and policies. Prepare reports on storage administration best practices, new technologies, etc., and recommend enhancements and configuration changes to improve and optimize existing storage technologies.Other Duties:
