Job Description

Huntington Ingalls Industries, Mission Technologies Division (HII‑MT), is seeking a motivated Systems Engineer to join our growing team supporting the development of advanced Digital Array Radar systems. As part of a lean team, you will be responsible for many aspects of Systems Engineering across the full system lifecycle. The ideal candidate is proactive, flexible, and collaborative with a focus on mission success. This role requires a balance of traditional acquisition systems engineering with speed, adaptability, and agility. Systems Engineers work in close collaboration with our subject matter experts and with our vendors to ensure these complex, first-of-their-kind systems meet our needs. As a Systems Engineer you will be responsible for key aspects of the project including the technical baseline, requirements management, and verification. You will use digital engineering tools throughout system design, integration, and test.

This position is located at Wright Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB), Ohio and is within a commutable distance from Beavercreek, Fairborn, Dayton, and Riverside. #LI-HB1Essential Job Responsibilities Provide technical oversight and accountability for vendor engineering teams

Serve as key technical evaluator of vendor designs, plans, and documentation from a holistic system perspective

Conduct independent system trade studies and performance checks to validate or challenge vendor results

Manage requirements decomposition and allocation

Manage requirements verification & validation planning and execution

Identify system technical risks and propose risk mitigations

Develop and maintain system architecture and behavioral models using SysML and other digital engineering tools.

Minimum Qualifications 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or related STEM field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.

Demonstrated experience applying systems engineering principles across multiple lifecycle phases (requirements derivation, interface definition, integration, and verification).

Strong "systems thinking" mindset with the ability to analyze how component-level decisions affect overall system performance.

Clearance:

Active Secret Security Clearance Must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance with enhanced security checks Preferred Requirements Interdisciplinary engineering background

Proficiency with SysML and digital engineering tools (e.g., Cameo Systems Modeler, Sparx EA, Rhapsody).

Background or strong technical interest in radar systems, RF electronics, digital beamforming, or signal processing

Experience with analysis and modeling tools/programs (such as MATLAB, Python)

Experience planning and executing tests of complex systems in constrained environments

Hands-on experience with design, integration, test, and verification of hardware or software.

INCOSE ASEP or CSEP Certification, or similar

Physical Requirements

Office or industrial environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances. Lifting and moving materials may be required.
