Senior Android Platform engineer (W2/1099 only)
Job Description
Need candidates on W2/1099 Senior Android platform engineer ( AOSP ) Portland, Oregon Job Description We are seeking a senior Android platform engineer to lead the design, implementation, integration, and optimization of the Android AOSP software stack for the PAC Seat Box. The engineer will translate in-flight entertainment (IFE) use cases into robust platform capabilities across the Android framework, native services, hardware abstraction layers, display and media paths, and system observability. This role combines hands-on engineering with technical leadership and requires close collaboration across internal product, architecture, applications, multimedia, validation, security, BSP, QNX/Linux, and hardware teams, as well as external chipset and technology partners. Required Qualifications Bachelor s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Extensive professional experience developing and debugging Android platform software , with strong hands-on experience in AOSP framework and native layers. Strong C/C++ and Java or Kotlin skills; proficiency with Android build systems, Linux development environments, Git, shell scripting, and Python.

Input, lights, thermal and power HALs Android build systems, Linux, Git, shell scripting, and Python Android integration with vendor BSPs, kernel drivers, SoC platforms and hardware peripherals System-level debugging using logs, traces, dumpsys, debugfs/sysfs, tombstones and kernel logs Performance profiling and optimization of embedded/resource-constrained systems Experience with telemetry, observability, metrics, logging, and tracing Technical leadership, architecture/design, cross-functional collaboration, and mentoring Experience with Qualcomm Snapdragon platforms, vendor Android forks, GPU/media acceleration, display pipelines, memory carve-outs, and chipset-vendor debugging workflows. Experience with hypervisors and multi-VM systems, including Android guests interacting with QNX or Linux management domains through VirtIO or custom IPC. Knowledge of IFE systems, seat-end architectures, aircraft offerability, secure media playback, Widevine/DRM, audio/video pipelines, and passenger-facing reliability expectations. Experience with SurfaceFlinger, WindowManager, DisplayManager, Hardware Composer, Gralloc, Codec2/MediaCodec, AudioFlinger/Audio HAL, input, lights, thermal, and power HALs. Familiarity with Android compatibility and security validation such as CTS/VTS, SELinux policy, verified boot, secure update, and vulnerability remediation.
