Job Description

Be the First to Apply Job Description As the Infrastructure Manager you will: Lead the design, implementation, administration, and lifecycle management of enterprise infrastructure systems including network, servers, virtualization, storage, and cloud (Google/Oracle/AWS/Microsoft) platforms. Oversee architecture for wired/wireless networking, server platforms, virtualization environments, storage systems, identity services, and cloud platforms. Ensure infrastructure solutions meet institutional requirements for scalability, resiliency, performance, and security. Establish lifecycle management processes for infrastructure hardware and software including upgrades, patching, replacements, and modernization initiatives. Coordinate infrastructure refresh cycles and ensure compatibility across enterprise systems. Lead planning and operational oversight of hybrid infrastructure environments spanning on-premises and cloud providers. Ensure integration, identity alignment, and operational continuity across multi-cloud platforms and enterprise SaaS services. Ensure infrastructure services maintain high availability and minimal disruption to institutional operations. Manage and supervise infrastructure staff, including workload prioritization, performance management, professional development, and operational coordination. Supervise infrastructure engineers, systems administrators, and network staff. Provide day-to-day operational leadership, work prioritization, and task coordination. Conduct performance evaluations, establish goals, and provide continuous coaching and feedback. Ensure staff responsibilities align with institutional priorities and service delivery expectations. Support staff training, certification efforts, and skills development aligned with evolving infrastructure technologies and cybersecurity requirements. Promote cross-training and operational redundancy to reduce single-points-of-failure within technical teams. Coordinate incident response coverage, infrastructure maintenance schedules, and on-call responsibilities as required. Foster a collaborative, service-oriented team culture focused on reliability, responsiveness, and continuous improvement. Directly administer Windows server system, providing systems analysis, design, development, patching, documentation, creation, testing, and modification for all Windows Server systems Administer and maintain enterprise Windows Server environments supporting institutional applications, authentication services, file systems, print services, and infrastructure platforms. Perform day-to-day operational management including configuration, monitoring, log review, and performance tuning to ensure reliable and secure system availability. Plan, schedule, test, and deploy Windows Server updates, security patches, and firmware upgrades in accordance with institutional maintenance schedules and cybersecurity practices. Implement and maintain secure system configurations, access controls, and baseline hardening standards. Support lifecycle replacement activities including upgrades, migrations, and decommissioning of legacy server systems. Ensure Windows servers are included in enterprise backup strategies and participate in restoration testing and disaster recovery procedures to maintain institutional operational continuity. Diagnose and resolve Windows Server-related outages, performance issues, authentication failures, and system conflicts. Coordinate with infrastructure, security, and application teams when escalation or cross-platform troubleshooting is required. Manage infrastructure vendors and technical project implementations including RFP development and vendor evaluation. Collaborate with IT teams and campus stakeholders to troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues and ensure continuity of services. Evaluate, recommend, and manage infrastructure vendors, contractors, and service providers. Participate in procurement processes including requirements definition, RFP preparation, bid evaluation, and contract review. Monitor vendor performance and ensure service level agreements are met. Lead or coordinate infrastructure deployment projects including network upgrades, server implementations, and cloud migrations. Ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and aligned with institutional standards. Work closely with application teams, cybersecurity personnel, helpdesk staff, and campus departments to resolve infrastructure-related issues. Serve as an escalation point for complex technical outages or systemic infrastructure problems. Coordinate response activities during infrastructure incidents and ensure restoration of critical services. Develop and maintain infrastructure policies, standards, documentation, and operational procedures aligned with institutional governance, cybersecurity frameworks, and regulatory requirements. Create and maintain infrastructure standards for networking, servers, and cloud services. Ensure technical standards support institutional cybersecurity posture and operational sustainability. Maintain infrastructure architecture diagrams, configuration documentation, SOPs, disaster recovery procedures, and operational runbooks. Ensure documentation supports knowledge transfer and operational continuity. Align infrastructure practices with institutional governance structures, cybersecurity frameworks, and regulatory requirements affecting IT environments. Support institutional audit activities and compliance reporting as needed. Develop maintenance schedules, patch management processes, backup verification procedures, and change control workflows. Monitor infrastructure security, availability, capacity, and performance; implement improvements and corrective actions to maintain reliable and secure operations. Oversee enterprise monitoring systems for network, server, storage, and cloud infrastructure health. Track availability, utilization trends, and system performance metrics. Coordinate with cybersecurity personnel to ensure infrastructure systems are properly hardened, patched, and protected. Support vulnerability remediation and infrastructure security improvement initiatives. Analyze infrastructure performance data and implement tuning, upgrades, or architectural improvements where needed. Ensure infrastructure capacity aligns with institutional growth and operational demand. Identify systemic risks and implement corrective actions to prevent outages or service degradation. Experience and Qualifications 5-7 years of experience required 8+ years of experience preferred Bachelor's Degree required; all fields of study are welcome. Study of Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field are preferred.
Required Knowledge of:
Enterprise Infrastructure Architecture:
Comprehensive knowledge of enterprise network, server, storage, virtualization, and cloud infrastructure design and operations.
Networking Technologies:
Advanced understanding of LAN/WAN, routing, switching, wireless networking, VPN technologies, and network security architecture.
Cloud Platforms and Hybrid Environments:
Knowledge of cloud services such as Microsoft Azure or AWS and hybrid infrastructure integration strategies.
Cybersecurity Practices:
Understanding of infrastructure security frameworks, vulnerability management, identity controls, system hardening, and incident response coordination.
Virtualization and Storage Platforms:
Experience managing virtualization platforms (VMware or equivalent), SAN/NAS systems, and backup/recovery architectures.
Telecommunications Systems:
Understanding of VoIP systems, unified communications platforms, and campus telecommunications infrastructure.
Performance Monitoring and Capacity Planning:
Knowledge of infrastructure monitoring tools, analytics platforms, and high-availability system design.
Regulatory and Compliance Requirements:
Familiarity with data protection standards, privacy requirements, and higher-education regulatory environments.
Required Skills in:
Managing enterprise infrastructure operations including networks, servers, telecommunications, and cloud services. Leading technical teams and coordinating cross-functional infrastructure initiatives. Developing infrastructure roadmaps, budgets, and lifecycle replacement strategies. Troubleshooting complex infrastructure outages and coordinating escalation response. Maintaining asset inventories, architecture diagrams, and technical documentation.
