- We are seeking a
- Chief Engineer / Engineering Manager
- to lead the technical direction, delivery, and ongoing improvement of enterprise ServiceNow solutions.
This role combines hands-on platform expertise with engineering leadership, team mentorship, solution governance, and stakeholder collaboration. The successful candidate will guide the development of custom applications, platform configurations, Service Portal experiences, reporting solutions, automation, and data-management processes. The role requires a technically strong leader who can establish development standards, support engineering teams, resolve complex platform issues, and ensure ServiceNow solutions align with organizational objectives. This position is well suited for an experienced remote engineering professional with a background in ServiceNow development, IT service management, Agile delivery, and cross-functional technical leadership.
- Responsibilities
- + Establish the technical vision, architecture, and engineering standards for the ServiceNow platform.
+ Lead the design, development, configuration, testing, deployment, and maintenance of ServiceNow applications and services.
+ Provide technical direction for platform components such as Business Rules, Client Scripts, ACLs, UI Policies, workflows, integrations, and data structures.
+ Oversee the creation and maintenance of custom ServiceNow applications, Service Portal pages, widgets, reports, and dashboards.
+ Guide engineering teams in translating business requirements, user stories, and operational needs into scalable technical solutions.
+ Review proposed designs, configurations, and code to promote maintainability, security, performance, and platform alignment.
+ Lead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for complex application, data, integration, and performance issues.
+ Establish development, testing, release-management, documentation, and change-control practices.
+ Coordinate platform upgrades, releases, enhancements, and production deployments across technical and business teams.
+ Promote the use of automated testing and quality-assurance practices, including ServiceNow Automated Test Framework capabilities.
+ Monitor platform health, data quality, security controls, compliance requirements, and overall operational performance.
+ Manage technical priorities, delivery schedules, risks, dependencies, and resource requirements across multiple initiatives.
+ Mentor, coach, and provide technical guidance to developers, administrators, engineers, and support personnel.
+ Facilitate collaboration among engineering, product, security, infrastructure, operations, and business stakeholders.
+ Participate in Agile planning, Scrum ceremonies, backlog refinement, technical reviews, and delivery retrospectives.
+ Define and communicate engineering decisions, technical roadmaps, standards, and modernization opportunities.
+ Support end users and internal teams by improving platform usability, documentation, processes, and knowledge resources.
+ Promote ITIL-aligned practices and a customer-focused approach to platform engineering and service delivery.
+ Encourage continuous improvement, creative problem-solving, and consistent execution within a distributed or remote organization.
- Qualifications
- Bachelor's with 12+ years (or commensurate experience) Required Skills and Experience + Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field; an advanced degree is preferred.
+ Significant experience developing, configuring, and supporting ServiceNow solutions in an enterprise environment.
+ Demonstrated experience providing technical leadership for ServiceNow development, administration, or platform-engineering teams.
+ Strong knowledge of ServiceNow application development, including scripting, configuration, security, data management, and user experience capabilities.
+ Experience with Business Rules, Client Scripts, ACLs, UI Policies, workflows, reporting, dashboards, Service Portal, and custom applications.
+ Experience establishing or improving software-development life-cycle processes, coding standards, technical documentation, testing practices, and release procedures.
+ Experience leading platform upgrades, deployments, operational support, and production issue resolution.
+ Familiarity with Automated Test Framework, quality assurance, regression testing, and defect-management practices.
+ Working knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, CSS, XML, SQL, and related web technologies.
+ Strong understanding of ITIL principles and enterprise service-management processes.
+ Ability to evaluate technical alternatives, make sound engineering decisions, and communicate tradeoffs to technical and nontechnical audiences.
+ Experience mentoring engineers and coordinating work across multiple teams or projects.
+ Proven ability to manage competing priorities, resolve conflicts, and deliver results under time and schedule constraints.
+ Strong diagnostic, analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
+ Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder-management abilities.
+ Ability to work independently and effectively lead distributed teams in a remote environment.
+ ServiceNow Certified System Administrator certification is preferred.
+ ServiceNow Certified Application Developer certification is preferred.
+ Experience supporting government, financial, education, or other highly regulated enterprise environments is a plus.
+ Familiarity with Microsoft Office and collaborative documentation or knowledge-management platforms is preferred.
- Posted Salary Range
- USD $160,000.00
- USD $180,000.00 /Yr.
