Job Description Primary Purpose Shapes architecture strategy and governance by creating technology roadmaps, guiding cross-functional teams, and ensuring solutions support long-term business priorities and compliance. The AMI Replacement (AMIR) project is a high-profile, multi-year effort to modernize SoCalGas' advanced metering and meter data management capabilities. This role serves as the senior architect, partnering with the technology vendor, system integrator, and internal teams to define end-to-end solution architecture across SaaS and cloud platforms, including application, data, integration, security, deployment, cutover readiness, and operational transition planning. Duties and Responsibilities- Supports AMIR deployment model evaluation by reviewing vendor SaaS and company-managed cloud impacts on security, resiliency, integration, and operational readiness
- Supports AMIR integration design activities by reviewing interface requirements, system dependencies, design decisions, and vendor/SI deliverables needed for downstream edge system readiness.
- Support AMIR data design activities by reviewing data models, source-to-target mappings, canonical data structures, and edge system data dependencies needed for downstream integrations.
- Serves as subject matter expert for architecture strategy and governance.
- Develops enterprise architecture blueprints and long-term technology roadmaps.
- Aligns architecture initiatives with organizational objectives and budgets.
- Leads cross-functional teams in implementing complex architecture solutions.
- Establishes architecture review boards and approval processes.
- Negotiates with vendors on technology solutions and integration standards.
- Advises senior leadership on architecture trends and investment priorities.
- Oversees risk management and compliance for architecture programs.
- Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education
Required:
Typically requires a 4-year degree in a relevant field, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Computer Information Systems, or related technical discipline preferred. ExperienceRequired:
Requires 10 years of related experience.Preferred:
5 years of experience as an architect with AWS cloud solutions, integration architecture, vendor/SI delivery, and SAP/CIS integration touchpoints preferred. Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesRequired:
Ability to align systems architecture with long-term business and technology strategy.Required:
Ability to define architecture standards, reference models, and best practices.Required:
Ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority.Required:
Expert knowledge of IT systems architecture across multiple technology domains.Required:
Knowledge of emerging infrastructure and platform technologies.Required:
Skill in solving complex, cross-platform or cross-environment architecture challenges.Preferred:
Knowledge of integration architecture patterns, including REST APIs, event-driven architectures, message-based integration, and secure data exchange across SaaS, cloud, and enterprise systems preferred.Preferred:
Knowledge of utility metering, Headend/MDMS, or enterprise asset/customer systems integration concepts preferred.
