Security Systems Engineer We are seeking a proactive Security Systems Engineer to serve as a technical lead for Courser's core Microsoft 365 environment and security operations. This hybrid role is responsible for the administration and security of our internal and customer-facing environments, with a heavy emphasis on Microsoft 365, Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), and cloud security operations. You will bridge the gap between systems administration and security engineering to ensure our environments are functional, performant, and secure by design.
Key Responsibilities:
Infrastructure & Systems Administration:
- M365 &
Azure Management:
Serve as the primary administrator for Microsoft 365 tenants, including Entra ID, Exchange Online, SharePoint, and Teams.AVD & Virtualization:
Design, deploy, and maintain Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environments to support remote work and application delivery.Endpoint Management:
Utilize Microsoft Intune/RMM for device enrollment, automated patching, and compliance enforcement.Security Engineering & Response:
Security-by-Design:
Partner with other teams to embed security principles into all systems, including firewalls, VPNs, and cloud environments.Identity & Access:
Implement and manage IAM, MFA, and privileged access controls to protect sensitive data.Threat & Incident Management:
Monitor threats and assist in incident response efforts, including containment and root-cause analysis.Vulnerability Management:
Perform regular assessments and coordinate the remediation of vulnerabilities across the infrastructure.Governance & Support:
Compliance Support:
Maintain documentation and controls to support initiatives such as SOC 2, HIPAA, and NIST.Technical Escalation:
Serve as a subject-matter expert and tier-3 escalation point for service delivery and local leadership.Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).Experience:
5+ years of experience in systems administration and security engineering, ideally within an MSP or enterprise environment.Technical Depth:
Deep knowledge of Microsoft 365, Azure (AVD focus optional), and Network Security.Security Knowledge:
Familiarity with NIST, CIS, or SOC 2 frameworks.Soft Skills:
Strong communication skills with the ability to bridge technical requirements with business needs.Preferred Certifications:
