Job Description

Senior Data Engineer
  • Data Platform (Healthcare) Overview We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design and build scalable, secure data platform solutions in a healthcare-focused environment.
This role will drive data architecture, ensure compliance with data privacy standards, and partner with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality data products. Responsibilities Design and implement Databricks-based data warehouses and lakehouse architectures Build and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines (Delta Live Tables, batch & streaming) Develop enterprise data models aligned to standards (e.g., FHIR, OMOP) Implement data governance, lineage, and quality frameworks Ensure data security best practices , including PHI/PII handling Develop client-facing data products with high performance and reliability Manage large-scale structured and unstructured datasets Optimize pipelines for performance, cost, and scalability Build infrastructure using Terraform (IaC) and cloud-native tools (AWS) Collaborate with engineering, analytics, and business teams to deliver solutions Requirements 5+ years of experience in data engineering / data platforms Strong experience with Databricks and AWS Proficiency in SQL, Python (and/or Scala) and modern data tooling Experience with relational & NoSQL databases Knowledge of healthcare standards:
FHIR, HL7, C-CDA
Familiarity with clinical vocabularies: ICD-10, SNOMED, LOINC, RxNorm Experience building data lakes, warehouses, and pipelines at scale Strong understanding of performance tuning, monitoring, and security Experience with Terraform, Git, and data integration tools Preferred Degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field Experience in health insurance or life sciences Cloud certifications (AWS/Azure) What You Bring Strong problem-solving and ownership mindset Ability to work across technical and business teams Experience mentoring and guiding others Comfortable in fast-paced, evolving environments Location Fully remote with occasional travel for team collaboration and events Senior Data Platform Engineer 3.0 3.0 out of 5 stars Brookfield, IL Remote $105,000
