System Engineer Location:

Richmond, Virginia (hybrid)

12 months Role OverviewWe are seeking a system Engineer to join our team. This role is focused on the monitoring and production support for critical Data Transaction platforms. The position involves ensuring the availability of applications running on LINUX servers and managing data transmissions happening through the GIS platform. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining platform stability and resolving technical issues in a 24x7 environment. Key ResponsibilitiesProvide monitoring and production support for critical Data Transaction platforms.

Ensure 24x7 platform availability for applications running on LINUX servers.

Monitor the GIS application to ensure the availability of data transmissions.

Analyze and resolve transmission and protocol issues, including FTP, FTPS, SFTP, AS2, and VPN.Troubleshoot incidents related to transmission issues and monitor corresponding alerts.

Restart applications as necessary to maintain system performance.

Troubleshoot basic mainframe issues related to bank transmissions.

Resolve production issues related to data transmissions in a timely manner.

Escalate complex issues to the appropriate next-level support team.

Document detailed descriptions of problem situations and their resolutions.

Required QualificationsBasic knowledge in Unix and Mainframes.

Knowledge of transmission protocols and networks.

Problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

Verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to recognize and escalate problem situations to the appropriate level.

Flexibility to work any shift, including weekends and holidays, when needed.

Preferred QualificationsNetwork and Midrange experience.

Previous helpdesk or command center experience.

Knowledge of or experience with Gentran Integrated Suite.
