Job Description

Sr. App Solutions Cloud Architect This position requires a Public Trust or eligibility to obtain one. The Cloud Architect provides overall technical leadership and direction for the implementation of cloud computing efforts. This position supports cloud-based solution design, development, migration, foundational cloud services, and cloud adoption initiatives. The role leads cloud pilot efforts and develops architectural concepts and models to support effective cloud solutions within federal government environments. Compensation & Benefits Estimated Starting Salary Range for
Cloud Architect:
$185,000-$200,000 annually. Pay commensurate with experience. Full-time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, and other possible benefits as provided. Benefits are subject to change with or without notice.
Cloud Architect Responsibilities Include:
  • Support cloud-based solution design, development, and migration.
  • Support adoption of serverless cloud architecture and design, specifically related to DevSecOps and cloud adoption.
  • Support automation through DevSecOps, USDA eAuth integration, and Azure Security Center.
  • Support the intake of applications into the CIO portfolio.
  • Upon intake, for an existing application, strategically assess it to determine support and service needs in relation to CIO standards.
  • Conduct a wide array of strategic and application architecture efforts as
  • requested, including but not limited to: o Conducting application rationalization.
o Developing modernization plans and technical roadmaps. o Leading technical discussions with business owners. o Development of architecture diagrams. o Present solution recommendations to a stated business problem, in o compliance with
USDA/FS IT
standards and investments.
  • Upon intake, for new application requests, work with the end user to document
  • their needs. If needed to clearly document expectations and estimate resource needs where directed.
  • Provide recommendations to CIO (OSD, MSS, CTO, and IIT) management on
  • opportunities for avoiding duplicate efforts (including interfaces) for systems and system applications.
  • Draft an CIO application support plan for how CIO will support the needs of the
  • particular application, including architecture diagrams.
  • Draft a resource support plan to accompany the CIO support plan, in coordination with Scrum Master or Project Manager assigned. The resource plan must detail the types of resources needed for the tasks identified in the CIO support plan, the skill sets needed, and the recommended duration and sequencing of those resources.
  • Present solution architecture to the architecture review board and/or CAB as
  • needed.
  • Participate in weekly CIO meetings to share expertise and recommendations.
  • Document architecture tasks in GitHub.
Sr.
App Solutions Cloud Architect Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities Requested:
  • AWS Cloud Architect certification required.
  • Experience with cloud-based solution design, development, and migration.
  • Experience with cloud computing in an architecture capacity.
  • Experience with serverless cloud architecture and design
  • Prior experience integrating with USDA data centers and environments.
  • Experience with automation through DevSecOps.
  • Experience with USDA eAuth integration.
  • Experience with Azure Security Center.
  • Prior experience supporting U.S. Federal Government projects.
  • Understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) is required.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong time management and decision-making skills.
  • Basic task organizational skills.
  • Public Trust or eligibility to obtain one.
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
