Job Description

Own the technical foundation that keeps a 24/7 freight operation moving. Xpress Global Systems (XGS) , an LRT Group operating company, is looking for an Infrastructure Administrator who can build a simpler, stronger, and more resilient technology environment. This is not a ticket-queue role. You will be trusted to make sound architecture and operating decisions, reduce avoidable risk, and improve the systems our terminals, drivers, employees, and customers rely on every day.
The opportunity:
You will help lead the infrastructure layer of a growing, multi-site logistics business. The work spans cloud and on-premises systems, identity, networks, backup and recovery, monitoring, and security controls. You will work closely with the IT Systems Manager and operations, development, data, and cybersecurity teams.
WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS
When infrastructure is unstable, every other technology initiative becomes noise. Your work will create the reliability and capacity the business needs to serve customers, support our agents, and grow and integrate new locations without adding unnecessary complexity.
What you will own:
Designing and improving hybrid infrastructure standards across XGS sites and future acquisitions. Capacity, availability, and performance planning that identifies risk before it becomes an outage. Backup, disaster recovery, and recovery testing that prove systems can be restored, not merely that jobs completed. Business-aware monitoring and alerting, with actionable thresholds, accountable owners, and usable runbooks. Modernization and migration playbooks for a mixed environment that includes Microsoft 365, Azure, Entra ID, Windows, Linux, networking, IBM i (AS/400), and legacy platforms.
What success looks like:
Critical systems are available and scalable. Recovery targets are proven through testing. Single points of failure and noisy alerts are being removed, not documented and ignored. Infrastructure decisions, dependencies, and configurations are clear enough that the business is not dependent on one person.
THE PERSON WE ARE LOOKING FOR
What you bring : You have practical experience operating and improving a business-critical infrastructure environment. You make technical trade-offs, explain them in business terms, and stay calm when an incident demands clear decisions. Infrastructure architecture and operations across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments. Windows Server, Microsoft 365, Azure, Active Directory, Entra ID, MFA, and identity administration. Network design and troubleshooting, security hardening, endpoint and infrastructure controls. Backup, disaster recovery, continuity, monitoring, observability, and capacity planning. PowerShell automation and vendor management, with sound cost and supportability judgment.
How you work:
You simplify and standardize instead of adding another tool, exception, or workaround. You bring options, trade-offs, and a recommendation that connects technology decisions to business impact. You document operating decisions, prioritize business value and risk, and reduce key-person risk through shared knowledge.
ROLE DETAILS
Full-time, onsite position in Chattanooga, TN. Approximately 15% travel to support XGS facilities and newly integrated locations. Participation in an on-call schedule is required to support a 24/7 freight operation. Experience with RTO/RPO testing, complex migrations, acquired environments, infrastructure as code, or DevOps practices is a plus.
Education and next step:
A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred, or equivalent experience supported by industry-recognized and relevant professional certifications. Apply through the XGS Careers page with a resume that shows the environments you have owned, improved, or recovered. XGS provides reasonable accommodations throughout the application and employment process.
