Job Description

Title:
DevOps Architect.
Location:
Frisco, TX (Onsite), I f candidate is strong, will go for Remote with travel required (20-30% travel)
Duration:
6+ Months Contract (Possible of contract to Hire ). Role Summary Looking for Senior DevOps expert to build, standardize, and own the DevOps toolchain platform from the ground up. This role is focused on installation, configuration, integration, scaling, and governance of tools like Jenkins, GitHub / GitLab, Argo CD, Jira, Confluence, and Datadog. Resource will be acting as platform owner, ensuring these systems are secure, scalable, and fully integrated across the SDLC. Experience Profile 12+ years of IT experience 10+ years in DevOps/Cloud engineering Proven experience in enterprise-scale toolchain integration, Design, and implementation of migration of the DevOps tool from On-Prem to Cloud Environments., Key Responsibilities DevOps Platform Setup & Migration Install, configure, and manage Jenkins (HA setup, master-agent architecture, plugins, security hardening) Expertise in driving multi region GitHub platform architecture and sync (HA/DR, geo-replication, latency-aware access), enterprise-wide standardization of repositories, branching strategies, security controls, and CI/CD patterns across multiple product teams. Leading direct migrations from legacy CI/CD or DevOps tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab, Azure DevOps, Bitbucket) to consolidate on GitHub. Architect and deploy highly available instances of Jenkins (HA controllers, distributed agents, autoscaling via Kubernetes/cloud agents). Establish enterprise-grade setup of GitHub /
GitLab:
Org structure, repo naming standards, branch protection rules Expertise on
SSO/SAML
integration, RBAC models, audit controls and Runner/agent infrastructure (self-hosted vs managed).
Setting up Atlassian tools:
Jira, Confluence etc., from scratch and migrate from On-Premises. Configure the custom workflows, issue types, automation rules . Deploy and configure Argo CD for GitOps-based Kubernetes delivery Configure Jira & Confluence from scratch (projects, workflows, permissions, templates). Experience in setting up compliance, and security (org/repo standards, CODEOWNERS, branch protections, Actions hardening, secrets, SSO); defining migration roadmaps. Enabling teams through documentation, templates, and onboarding. Design end-to-end integration between SCM, CI/CD, monitoring, and ITSM tools. Plan and execute migration of DevOps tools and pipelines across platforms. Pipeline and repo migration (code, history, secrets, integrations). Migration from legacy CI/CD ? modern pipelines (e.g., Jenkins to GitHub Actions/GitLab CI) and transition from script-based deployments to GitOps via Argo CD Migration assessment (inventory, dependencies, risk analysis). Automate build, test, deployment, and rollback processes. Develop reusable pipeline templates and shared libraries. Expertise all flavors of Linux administration and software installations to deploy and manage the DevOps Tools. Automate build, test, deployment, and rollback processes. Monitoring & Observability Implement end-to-end monitoring using Datadog (APM, logs, infra, synthetics). Integrate alerts with incident management workflows. Define SLOs, SLIs, and dashboards for production systems Expertise on Alerting & escalation policies definition in Data Dog. Cloud & Infrastructure Work with cloud platforms (Azure/AWS/Google Cloud Platform) for scalable deployments. Implement Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/ARM/CloudFormation) Provision DevOps tools using Terraform Manage Kubernetes clusters and containerized workloads Security & Compliance Implement DevSecOps practices (SAST, DAST, secrets management) Ensure compliance with enterprise security standards Role-based access control (RBAC) across tools.
Required Skill Set:
Core Expertise 12+ years in DevOps / Platform Engineering Expertise with Jenkins, GitHub, GitLab, Argo CD and other DevOps Tools setup and integration with ITSM tools. Deep understanding of CI/CD, GitOps, and release strategies.
Tools & Technologies Monitoring:
Datadog (APM, logs, dashboards) ,
Grafana, Cloud Watch, Prometheus Ticketing/Docs:
Jira, Confluence, Service Now, GitHub.
Containers:
Docker, Kubernetes, AKS, EKS, Docker Orchestration, JFrog Artifactory, Azure Registry and AWS Registry. Ansible Automation, Chef Configuration, Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment.
IaC:
Terraform (preferred), Cloud Formation templates, Azure Biceps, ARM templates.
Scripting:
Python / Bash / Groovy, PowerShell Agile Methodologies, DevOps Best Practices. Education Bachelor s/master s in computer science, Engineering, or related field.
