Job Requirements Fort Belvoir, VA Top Secret/SCI Polygraph not specified Senior Level Career (10+ yrs experience) $155,000 - $170,000 Job Description Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Systems Engineer (VDI) to support a mission-critical Department of Defense customer. This position will serve as a senior engineer responsible for the design, administration, optimization, and security of a large-scale Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environment. The ideal candidate brings deep hands-on expertise with Omnissa Horizon (VMware Horizon), VMware vSphere, endpoint management, automation, and secure enterprise desktop solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build, update, test, and deploy VDI master images and desktop pools
- Manage thin-client devices and endpoint configurations using enterprise management platforms
- Support profile management solutions to provide a seamless and reliable end-user experience
- Develop and maintain PowerShell automation scripts to improve operational efficiency
- Perform pre-production testing and validation of VDI image updates, patches, configuration changes, and monitor VDI performance
- Ensure VDI environments comply with DoD security requirements, including
DISA STIG
implementation- Collaborate with systems, network, cybersecurity, and customer teams to support mission objectives
Required Qualifications:
- Active TS/SCI clearance required
- Bachelor's degree
- 8+ years of systems engineering or related experience
- Current CompTIA Security+ certification required
- Hands-on experience supporting Omnissa Horizon (VMware Horizon) hosted on VMware vSphere
- Experience managing thin-client environments, including Dell Wyse or similar platforms
- Strong PowerShell scripting and automation skills
- Knowledge of Group Policy (GPO) management within VDI environments
- Familiarity with
DISA STIG
compliance requirements- Experience with VDI monitoring and performance management tools
Work Location:
- On-site in Newington, VA
- Less than 10% travel required
