What they do
A Cyber Crime Analyst or Investigator investigates a number of crimes, ranging from recovering file systems on computers that have been hacked or damaged to investigating crimes against children. Recovers data from computers that can be used in prosecuting crimes in court. Computer crime investigators must also write reports for and testify in court. Also may work for large corporations to test security systems that are currently in place. Investigators do this by trying various ways to hack into the corporation's computer networks. At corporations, computer crime investigators also maximize optimal computer system performance levels.

Experience working with security technologies such as Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), Security Information and Event Management (SIEM), Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB), Privileged Access Management (PAM), intrusion prevention and detection systems, and related security platforms. A collaborative, analytical, and highly ethical approach, with strong communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to make effective decisions in complex and evolving situations. It's a bonus if you have 5 to 7 years of insider threat investigation experience, including prior law enforcement, intelligence, military, or corporate investigative experience. Hands-on experience securing cloud environments across Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP), supported by relevant certifications. Experience using scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, Bash, or JavaScript to automate investigations, improve data analysis, or enhance detection capabilities.
