Job Description

The City of Worthington is seeking a proactive, detail-oriented IT professional with expertise in secure systems, reliable infrastructure, and delivering excellent service to internal stakeholders. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to shape and safeguard the technology environment that supports vital City services, all while working with a collaborative team committed to innovation, reliability, and public service. Under the direction of the Information Technology Director, the Systems & Security Engineer is responsible for coordinating design and implementation services and providing on-going engineering, administration, and support for the IT infrastructure. This includes servers (both physical and virtual), storage, networks, and the phone system. The Systems & Security Engineer also provides selection guidance, installation, and technical support to City departments for equipment and software. The Systems & Security Engineer leads efforts in implementing and operating critical cybersecurity elements, including the design of secure systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, monitoring threats, and serving as the primary technical liaison to the security operations center. This role is responsible for the technical aspects of incident response, overseeing disaster recovery coordination, testing, and maintaining recovery environments to ensure service restoration and continuity. Please visit our website for more information. This is a full-time, FLSA exempt, classified position with a salary range of $78,202 - $102,463. New hires typically are appointed at step A of the pay range. Training and experience may qualify a candidate for appointment at a higher step within this range.
