A Vulnerability Analyst or Penetration Tester probes for and exploits security vulnerabilities in web-based applications, networks and systems. Penetration Tests are designed to achieve a specific, attacker-simulated goal and should be requested by customers who are already at their desired security posture. A typical goal could be to access the contents of the prized customer database on the internal network, or to modify a record in an HR system. Vulnerability Assessments are designed to yield a prioritized list of vulnerabilities and are generally for clients who already understand they are not where they want to be in terms of security. The customer already knows they have issues and simply need help identifying and prioritizing them.

  • Rosslyn, VA Date Thursday, August 20, 2026 City Arlington State VA Country United States Working time Full-time Description & Requirements Maximus is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Cybersecurity Analyst to join our team in Rosslyn, VA.
The Cybersecurity Analyst will be responsible for protecting digital assets, identifying, and mitigating security risks, and responding to security incidents. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the program. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of ACAS, Splunk and other cybersecurity tools, extensive experience in vulnerability analysis and incident response, excellent communication skills, and is proactive, detail-oriented, and adaptable to changing security landscapes. This position if fully onsite (Rosslyn, VA) and requires a TS/SCI clearance. Maximus TCS (Technology and Consulting Services)

Job-Specific Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Detection/Monitoring:
    Continuously monitor and analyze systems for unusual activity and potential threats.
  • Vulnerability Assessments:
    Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify and address security weaknesses.
  • Incident Response:
    Investigate security breaches and other cybersecurity incidents, providing timely and effective responses.
  • Security Measures:
    Develop and implement robust security measures to protect information systems from unauthorized access and cyber threats.
  • Collaboration:
    Work closely with IT and security teams to enhance security protocols and ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Reporting:
    Prepare detailed reports on security incidents, mitigation strategies, and overall security posture.
Threat Intelligence:
Stay updated on the latest cybersecurity trends, threats, and technologies to proactively address potential risks.
Job-Specific Minimum Requirements:
  • Active TS/SCI Clearance required at the time of hire. Candidate must be eligible for and willing to successfully complete a CI Polygraph after hire.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
  • 4 years of relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of the degree requirement.
  • Minimum of 8 years of general experience in cybersecurity or related field.
  • 4+ years of experience displaying strong knowledge of operating systems (e.g., Windows, Linux).
  • 4+ years of cybersecurity experience in the Department of Defense (DoD) or Intelligence community.
  • Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles, tools, and techniques.
  • Hands-on experience using SIEM tools such as Splunk to monitor security events, analyze alerts/logs, identify anomalies, support incident triage, and document findings in an operational cybersecurity environment.
  • Hands-on experience using ACAS/Tenable.sc to conduct vulnerability scans, analyze scan results, validate findings, prioritize remediation actions, and support vulnerability reporting/tracking in a DoD or federal environment.
  • Security+ or equivalent (DoD 8570) if no current IAM Level II certification (below).
  • Quick learner and team player.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
  • IAT level III certification (CASP+, CISA, CISSP, or GCIH) or the ability to obtain certification within six months of hiring.
  • Experience with the Special Access Programs (SAPs) and Intelligence Community (IC).
  • Knowledge and/or understanding of Joint Special Access Program Implementation Guide (JSIG).
  • The ability to adapt in fast paced environments, comfort with ambiguity.
  • Familiarity with cloud technologies and security practices.
  • Strong self-organization and self-management skills with emphasis on self-initiation and follow-through.
  • Proven written and oral communication skills.
  • The ability to work independently.
