Job Description

Piper Companies is seeking a Jr. Data Engineer to oin a fast-paced Application Development and Data team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving business problems through a combination of SQL-based data engineering, automation development, and modern AI-assisted coding tools. The position offers a unique opportunity to work across enterprise data integration initiatives while also developing lightweight business applications and automation solutions using emerging AI-enabled development practices. You will split your time between two critical areas: Data Engineering (SQL‑based ingestion and transformation for our data warehouse) Rapid development of highly tailored automation tools using Vibe coding and AI‑assisted delivery Responsibilities Develop and maintain SQL-based data ingestion, transformation, and optimization workflows supporting enterprise reporting and analytics initiatives Assist in building and supporting lightweight automation tools and business applications using AI-assisted development tools and rapid development practices Write and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and transformation logic across relational database environments Support ETL/data integration processes including data validation, cleansing, profiling, and source-to-target mapping Develop Python-based scripts and automation processes for ingestion, reporting, and operational workflows Troubleshoot and resolve data pipeline, SQL, and automation-related issues Work closely with business analysts, project teams, and technical stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver scalable solutions Contribute to documentation, testing, and continuous process improvement initiatives Participate in data modeling and enterprise data warehouse support activities Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or related field 1-3 years of experience in data engineering, ETL development, database development, or automation engineering Strong SQL skills with hands-on experience in SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, or similar relational databases Experience with Python scripting for automation, data processing, or integration workflows Exposure to ETL/data integration concepts, APIs, flat files, and data transformation processes Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar rapid-development platforms Understanding of data warehousing concepts including normalization, dimensional modeling, and source-to-target mapping Experience with Git or version control tools Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a fast-paced environment Preferred Qualifications Exposure to Snowflake or cloud-based data platforms Familiarity with PowerShell or additional scripting languages Experience with APIs/web services integration Exposure to Agile development methodologies Experience building lightweight internal automation tools or workflow solutions This is a fully onsite opportunity offering strong career growth, hands-on technical experience, and exposure to modern data engineering and AI-assisted software delivery practices.
COMPENSATION
Salary Range:
$85,000 - $90,000 •
