Permanent Data Engineer Redwood City, CA | Hybrid Overview A fast-growing, venture-backed company transforming the built environment is seeking a Data Engineer to join its expanding data team. This organization combines technology, operations, manufacturing, and project execution to deliver scalable physical products and services in a highly regulated industry. As the second member of the data team, you will work closely with business stakeholders across operations, manufacturing, inventory management, project delivery, and corporate functions. This is an opportunity to take ownership of critical data infrastructure and have a direct impact on company growth. What You'll Do Own, maintain, and enhance approximately 20 existing data pipelines Design and build new data integrations to support business growth and operational scale Develop reliable ETL processes and ensure data quality across multiple source systems Create greater visibility into inventory, manufacturing, project execution, and operational performance Ingest and operationalize publicly available datasets to support strategic decision-making Partner with stakeholders across multiple departments to understand requirements and deliver actionable insights Monitor pipeline health, troubleshoot issues, and improve the reliability of data infrastructure Help establish scalable data practices within a small but growing team What We're Looking For 2-4 years of professional experience in Data Engineering, Analytics Engineering, or a related field Expert-level SQL skills Experience owning and maintaining production ETL/data pipelines Strong communication and stakeholder management skills Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities Broad technical exposure and a generalist mindset, with experience solving a variety of business problems Demonstrated ability to work independently with a high degree of ownership Nice to Have Experience working with ERP systems, particularly in operational or supply-chain environments Experience with transactional databases and source-system design considerations Proficiency with Python Experience with Spark, dbt, Databricks, and/or TypeScript Experience integrating APIs and external data sources Public GitHub projects demonstrating data engineering, ingestion, or pipeline development work Location The position is based in Redwood City, California with a hybrid schedule. Tuesday through Thursday are required onsite , with flexibility on Monday and Friday. Compensation $120,000-$140,000 base salary + equity Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.
