Job Description

Highly motivated Data Engineer will conduct advanced analytics to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of Eversource Protection and Controls (P&C) activities, ensuring that the Eversource transmission and distribution systems are designed to high quality standards. Individual will work as a member of the P&C Compliance team, to improve P&C data management and analytics. Duties include working collaboratively with subject matter experts from Information Technology (IT) and other Eversource organizations to specify and implement the systems that will manage P&C data and ensure data related to other non-P&C source systems for the benefit of downstream engineering and operational tools. Role will also be responsible for identifying and remediating P&C source data quality issues, including the development of process and technology improvements. Additional analytics and data management projects will improve tracking and reporting of P&C data used for compliance and technical engineering problem solving activities.
  • Analyze protection system records to ensure they are maintained in accordance with NERC, NPCC, and ISO NE standards.
  • Ensure P&C requirements are well defined to support design and implementation of scalable and efficient data pipelines to ingest, process, and store data from various sources.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams to build and maintain P&C data infrastructure and databases, ensuring solutions are designed, built, tested and maintained to meet engineering requirements.
  • Monitor and optimize data quality for performance and efficiency.
  • Collaborate across Eversource and the wider engineering and operational organization to ensure that internal and external reports are using a consistent source of P&C data.
  • Identify and help remediate root causes of data issues that may be encountered.
  • Work includes data entry, data manipulation, data analysis, technical writing, designing, documenting, coordinating, implementing, and presenting.
  • Develop and maintain tools to translate P&C logic and settings into code used by P&C engineers, to support engineering work, such as ratings calculations based on raw settings data.
  • Create and curate datasets for reporting and use tools such as PowerBI to create visualizations based on engineering datasets.
Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:
Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Data Engineer or similar role, Utility Experience strongly preferred. Proficiency with scripting languages (MATLAB highly desired) used for engineering calculations. Experience with data pipeline and data integration tools. Experience with database technologies. Experience with software administration in the electrical utility industry (i.e. Doble PowerBase) preferred Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Knowledge of or experience working with utility companies is desirable.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science or related quantitative field. Advanced degree preferred.
Experience :
Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Data Engineer or similar role.

Working Conditions:
Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required. Must be available to travel between
MA/CT/NH
as necessary. Work is performed primarily in an office environment which requires sitting, standing, walking and climbing stairs are involved.
