Overview The Data Processing Analyst receives geospatial data (zipped ESRI shapefiles, GeoJSON, Google Earth KML/KMZ, raw WKT, etc.) and associated work orders, reviews each order prescription to determine the required analysis, executes the appropriate test or processing workflow, and compiles results into clear, client-ready reports. This role is the quality gate between incoming spatial data and finished deliverables. Duties Receive incoming geospatial packages Review each order prescription to confirm the requested test, target layers/attributes, units, coordinate reference system, and any special instructions or constraints. Flag incomplete, conflicting, or out-of-spec orders before processing begins; request missing files or clarification rather than guessing. Log orders, file versions, and processing status so work is traceable from receipt through delivery. Meet stated turnaround times and keep the queue current; communicate delays before they become surprises. Work with agronomy, operations, or client-services staff when an order is ambiguous or the result is unexpected. Suggest improvements to checklists, templates, and test protocols when the same error is repeated. Protect client and operational data; follow file-handling and confidentiality rules Experience Associate's or bachelor's degree in GIS, geography, geomatics, data analytics, agronomy, environmental science Familiarity with Python programming language. Working proficiency with geospatial data (Geopandas, GDAL, OGR, and similar) Ability to read a work order or prescription, match it to a defined test, and execute that test without improvising. Comfortable with spreadsheets (Excel or equivalent, such as pandas in Python or tidy verse in R) for compiling results, checking totals, and building simple summary tables. Familiarity with FastAPI calls/responses Reliable attention to file naming, version control, and checklist-driven QA. Work Environment Primarily sedentary workstation work with extended computer use. Occasional lifting of files or equipment under 50 lbs. Standard office hours with periodic deadline-driven peaks when order volume is high. Field visits are not a core duty unless separately assigned.
