Description of Duties:
The Data Operations Internship is part time and will support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract.
The candidate will:
Support the IRES Data Science team in improving data integrity and quality, monitoring data pipelines, and assisting with analytical reporting. Help streamline day-to-day data operations, ensuring accuracy and reliability, while receiving mentorship from senior data professionals. Designed specifically for a university junior or senior, this part-time role offers hands-on experience with enterprise-level data architecture.
The successful candidate will:
Have strong attention to detail, proactive problem-solving mindset, and the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly. The selected candidate may be assigned as an employee for one of our teammate companies.
Basic Requirements:
Must be currently enrolled as a Junior or Senior in a Bachelor's degree program in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, or a related discipline. Must be able to commit to a part-time schedule (up to 20 hours per week) during the academic semester. Must have a foundational understanding of relational databases and SQL. Must have basic proficiency in a scripting language commonly used for data manipulation (e.g., Python or R). Must be familiar with standard spreadsheet software (e.g., Excel) for data review. Experience:
Previous academic projects, hackathons, or internships involving data cleaning, ETL processes, or database management.
Tools:
Exposure to data visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI) or version control systems (e.g., Git).
Cloud Knowledge:
A conceptual understanding of cloud computing environments (e.g., AWS, Azure).
Domain Interest:

Compensation Details:
