DATA ANALYST WORCESTER FIRE DEPARTMENT CITY OF WORCESTER
The City of Worcester is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Data Analyst within the Worcester Fire Department . Under the direction of the Supervisor of Administration, the Data Analyst is responsible for the administration, implementation, support, and continuous improvement of department technology systems, data reporting solutions, mobile technology, and business applications. The position serves as the primary liaison between the Fire Department, the Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT), Worcester GIS, other City departments, and third-party vendors to improve operational efficiency through technology. This position serves as the primary technology and data systems administrator for the Worcester Fire Department. Bilingual applicants are encouraged to apply.
ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS
Administer, configure, and support department technology systems including Records Management Systems (RMS), permitting platforms, SharePoint, reporting platforms, mobile applications, and other enterprise software. Lead technology implementation projects from planning through deployment, including requirements gathering, testing, configuration, documentation, training, and ongoing support. Develop and maintain department reports, dashboards, data visualizations, and statistical reports using Microsoft Excel, ArcGIS, Power BI, SQL-based data sources, and other reporting tools. Collect, analyze, and submit department statistical data to local, state, and federal agencies while ensuring compliance with reporting requirements. Evaluate department business processes and develop technology-based solutions to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual processes. Serve as the primary technology liaison between the Fire Department, DoIT, Worcester GIS, other City departments, and third-party software vendors. Provide end-user technical support for department computers, printers, mobile devices, audiovisual equipment, software applications, and related technology; coordinate complex issues with DoIT and vendors. Administer department mobile technology including apparatus iPads, mobile applications, user accounts, and associated hardware. Maintain department SharePoint sites, internal webpages, forms, workflows, and collaboration resources in accordance with City standards. Develop technical documentation, standard operating procedures, user guides, and training materials; provide technology training to department personnel. Coordinate hardware and software evaluations, purchasing recommendations, inventory management, lifecycle planning, and equipment replacement. Maintain awareness of emerging technologies and recommend solutions that enhance department operations and service delivery. Attend meetings with department leadership, City departments, and vendors to coordinate technology initiatives and ongoing projects. Performs related duties as required.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of computer information systems, enterprise software, Microsoft 365, networking fundamentals, printers, mobile devices, and related hardware. Ability to administer enterprise software platforms and coordinate system implementations. Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Power BI, SharePoint, Forms, Power Automate, Adobe Acrobat, and related business applications. Ability to analyze business processes and recommend technology-based improvements. Ability to develop reports, dashboards, technical documentation, and user training materials. Strong analytical, organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills. Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users and establish effective working relationships with employees, City departments, vendors, and outside agencies. Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize competing deadlines, and work independently while exercising sound judgment. Regular onsite attendance is required
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Associate's degree in computer science, information systems, information technology, data analytics, or related field AND; Two (2) years of experience in technical support, systems administration, data analysis, or business systems support; OR; any equivalent combination of education, training and four (4) years of relevant experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position may be considered in lieu of above requirement. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, data analytics, or related field. Experience with municipal government technology systems. Four (4) years of experience implementing enterprise software platforms. Two (2) years of experience with Power BI, SQL reporting, GIS applications, SharePoint, and Microsoft Power Platform. Four (4) years of experience managing technology projects and coordinating third-party vendors. Two (2) years of experience developing technical documentation and conducting end-user training.
HIRING SALARY RANGE
$71,296.80 to $82,316.91 annually, full-time, exempt, with an excellent benefits package
