Role Description Bright Star is recruiting an experienced Data Analyst to support our U.S. Customs and Border Protection client. This position is full-time and hybrid. This role will work with our client to transform data into actionable insights that inform strategic decision-making. The Data Analyst will be responsible for designing and executing analyses, building and maintaining data pipelines and queries, and partnering with stakeholders to translate business questions into rigorous, data-driven answers.

This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of technology and strategy, contributing directly to high-impact projects in a collaborative environment where your analytical work will shape decisions and outcomes for meaningful clients. Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain SQL queries and Python scripts to extract, transform, and analyze large datasets from data warehouses
  • Partner with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into well-scoped analytical projects
  • Build and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations that communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies that drive business insight
  • Develop and document data models, metrics, and definitions to ensure consistency and accuracy across reporting
  • Collaborate with data engineering and analytics teams to improve data quality, reliability, and accessibility
  • Present findings and recommendations to clients and internal leadership with clarity and confidence
  • Continuously identify opportunities to automate recurring analyses and improve analytical workflows Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, Engineering) or equivalent professional experience
  • 3+ years of professional experience as a Data Analyst or in a similar analytical role
  • Proficiency in Python for data analysis, including libraries such as pandas and NumPy
  • Strong proficiency in SQL, including writing complex queries, joins, window functions, and performance optimization
  • Hands-on experience working with data warehouses and an understanding of data warehousing concepts such as dimensional modeling and ETL/ELT processes
  • Demonstrated ability to translate ambiguous business questions into structured analyses
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Looker
  • Familiarity with version control (Git) and collaborative development workflows
  • Exposure to statistical analysis, A/B testing, or experimentation methodologies
  • Prior consulting experience or experience working directly with external clients
