- SAIC is seeking a
- Junior Data Operations Analyst
- to join our team in Alexandria, Virginia.
- Responsibilities:
- Real-Time Pipeline Monitoring and Operations
- + Monitor Azure Data Factory (ADF) pipeline execution status and Azure Event Hubs streaming health daily, noting and logging any interruptions or anomalies.
+ Assist in documenting pipeline failures, collecting error logs, and executing initial, basic troubleshooting steps under the guidance of senior team members.
+ Ensure all technical incidents, root causes, and corrective actions are thoroughly documented in the team's operations log.
- Source Integration and Connector Support
- + Support engineers in maintaining data connectors to external source systems. + Assist in mapping and documenting data flows from emerging source systems to support the onboarding of new data streams. + Participate in learning and assisting with the migration of direct-to-Service data feeds over to consolidated Advana/WDP hosted sources.
- Data Freshness and Alert Management
- + Daily monitor the data freshness to verify that all integrated readiness data sources are updating within expected intervals. + Flag overdue data sources, initiate basic diagnostic checks, and escalate persistent freshness bottlenecks to senior analysts for resolution. + Help track and compile reporting-cycle latency metrics to ensure the team meets critical readiness reporting windows.
- Data Quality Framework Operations
- + Conduct daily routine reviews of source and domain-specific data quality scores, flagging any downward trends or quality anomalies.
+ Support the daily management of the records queue, identifying records flagged for quality issues and preparing draft notifications for the Data Operations Manager to review.
+ Assist in gathering and organizing weekly quality metrics to support the production of the monthly Data Quality Trend Report.
- Data Governance and Information Exchange
- + Assist in updating the DRRS metadata catalog within established timelines when system-wide schema modifications occur. + Support monthly data lineage validations by reviewing data flow paths and verifying that origin and transformation logs are accurate. + Assist in organizing and maintaining the DRRS Business Glossary, ensuring data definitions are kept up to date across quarterly reviews.

- Required Education:
- Bachelors and two (2) years or more experience; Masters and zero (0) years or more related experience; four (4) years of experience considered in lieu of degree.

DRRS & Military Readiness Expertise:
Prior direct operational experience with the Defense Readiness Reporting System (DRRS) or Service-specific variants is highly prioritized. Candidates should possess a strong foundational understanding of how military units calculate and submit readiness data (such as Personnel, Equipment, and Unit Readiness metrics). +
Basic Technical Aptitude:
Foundational understanding of how data moves between systems (ETL/ELT concepts, databases, or basic SQL). + Familiarity with
Cloud Concepts:
Basic awareness of cloud computing environments (experience with or academic exposure to the Microsoft Azure ecosystem is a plus). + Problem-Solving & Eagerness to
Learn:
Strong logical thinking and troubleshooting skills, with a keen interest in learning enterprise-level data pipeline monitoring tools (Azure Data Factory, Azure Log Analytics). +
Communication Skills:
Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document technical issues systematically and collaborate effectively with a multi-disciplinary team. + DoD Readiness Systems (Highly Desired): Prior experience utilizing DRRS at the unit, command, or Service level, Direct operational familiarity with the Defense Readiness Reporting System - Army (DRRS-A), the Navy Readiness Reporting Enterprise (NRRE), or related readiness systems during military service or previous contracting work.

Target salary range:
$80,001 - $120,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
