Los Alamos, New Mexico What You Will Do The Theoretical Biology and Biophysics group is seeking qualified and highly motivated candidates to hire as post-bac students to work within our research teams. This is an educational opportunity for the selected candidates to contribute to cutting-edge, multi-disciplinary scientific research and collaborations, and to learn new skills and areas. The Theoretical Biology and Biophysics (T-6) focuses on the modeling of biomedical systems and the analysis and informatics of medical, molecular, and cellular biological data. T-6 is one of the few research groups in the world devoted to mathematical modeling and computational analysis of problems in cellular and molecular biology. The successful candidate will contribute to one or more applied research projects within the group. Responsibilities will include the design, implementation, and optimization of automated data analysis pipelines, as well as the development of visual demonstrations of the work, such as graphical user interfaces (GUIs) or web-based application. What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Education/Experience:
BS/BA Degree (or soon to be awarded) from an accredited program in computer science, statistics, mathematics, bioinformatics, biology, or related field. Must have graduated with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.2 out of 4.0 scale or equivalent. Proficiency in python programming and data cleaning/analysis.
Desired Qualifications:
Familiarity with machine learning modeling, data analytics, and large-scale calculations. Experience with web development Experience with applied ML project Comfortable working in an interdisciplinary research environment.

No Clearance:
Position does not require a security clearance. Selected candidates will be subject to drug testing and other pre-employment background checks.
New-Employment Drug Test:
The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
Internal Applicants:
Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the required period of continuous service, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader.
