Full-Time Position Overview Marathon TS is seeking an experienced Principal Data Scientist to support a high-impact intelligence modernization program at the National Space Intelligence Center (NSIC) at Wright-Patterson AFB. This position will work directly with mission owners, senior leadership, technical teams, and implementation partners to advance how intelligence data is collected, managed, shared, analyzed, and used to support mission decision-making. The ideal candidate brings a strong combination of data science, data architecture, cloud technologies, data governance, and Intelligence Community (IC) experience. This is an opportunity to work in a mission-focused environment where advanced data capabilities, artificial intelligence, and modern analytics directly support U.S. Air Force and Intelligence Community objectives. Key Responsibilities Support the modernization and advancement of intelligence data and analytics capabilities within the National Space Intelligence Center. Partner with mission owners and senior stakeholders to understand intelligence requirements and translate them into scalable data and analytics solutions. Align data initiatives, architectures, and capabilities with Department of Defense (DoD) strategic priorities and Intelligence Community mission objectives. Design and support scalable, secure, and efficient data architectures capable of handling complex intelligence datasets. Apply data science and advanced analytics techniques to help organizations extract meaningful insights from large and complex datasets. Support the integration of artificial intelligence and machine learning capabilities into intelligence data environments and analytical workflows. Develop and improve processes for collecting, storing, processing, sharing, and analyzing mission data. Support the full data lifecycle, including data governance, data quality, metadata management, accessibility, security, and lifecycle management. Work with structured and unstructured data across SQL, NoSQL, data warehouse, and cloud-based environments. Leverage cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud for data storage, processing, analytics, and modernization initiatives. Develop dashboards, visualizations, and analytical products using tools such as Tableau or Power BI to communicate complex findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders. Collaborate closely with engineering, architecture, AI/ML, intelligence, and mission teams to deliver solutions that meet operational requirements. Provide technical expertise and recommendations to senior leadership regarding data strategy, architecture, analytics, and emerging technologies. Required Qualifications Candidates must meet one of the following education/experience combinations: High school diploma or equivalent with 12+ years of relevant experience Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of relevant experience Master's degree with 6+ years of relevant experience Additionally, candidates should have: Active TS/SCI clearance Experience supporting or working within the Intelligence Community (IC) and/or Department of Defense Strong understanding of IC data requirements, environments, and mission challenges Experience aligning technical and data initiatives with DoD or IC mission objectives Knowledge of data lifecycle management, including data governance, data quality, and data security Experience with data architecture frameworks and designing scalable, secure data environments Experience with cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Proficiency with SQL and/or NoSQL databases Experience with data warehousing, data integration, and large-scale data environments Experience communicating analytical findings through visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI Ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively to senior leadership, mission stakeholders, and technical teams Marathon TS is committed to the development of a creative, diverse and inclusive work environment.
