JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
We are searching for a motivated undergraduate student to jointhe Visualization and Decision Support Divisionat the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State. This fall/springinternship willconcentrate on gaining hands-on experience in AI/ML data preparation and contributing to meaningful research ARL is an authorized DoD SkillBridge partner and welcomes all transitioning military members to apply.
Typical focus areas include:
Label and annotate diverse datasets with a primary focus on geospatial data such as tracks, images, video, text, and sensor data Support AI/ML model development for Navy, Department of Defense (DoD), and Intelligence Community (IC) applications Utilize industry-standard and custom labeling tools while collaborating with AI/ML researchers and engineers to understand requirements and contribute to data quality assurance processes Students majoring in the following fields are encouraged to apply: Undergraduate students in a STEM major (Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Data Science, Information Sciences, or related fields) Interest Skills/Experience areas include: Drive to learn and grow in the AI/ML field Commitment to data quality Strong attention to detail Preferred but not required: Interest in artificial intelligence, machine learning, or data science Familiarity with geospatial concepts or mapping technologies Previous experience with data analysis or annotation at any level You will work up to 20 hours/week during the fall and spring semesters and have the opportunity to work up to 40 hours/week over the summer. This is a paid internship opportunity, and location will befully on-site located in State College, PA Relocation and housing are not provided. ARL's purpose is to research and develop innovative solutions to challenging scientific, engineering, and technology problems in support of the Navy, the Intel Community (IC), and other federal government customers.
