Job Description

Job Summary Our client, a leading communication services provider, is seeking a Data Scientist with strong machine learning experience and the communication skills to translate complex findings into clear recommendations for leadership. This role combines statistical analysis, model development, production data pipelines, and executive dashboards. The ideal candidate can turn ambiguous business questions into defined data problems and regularly present findings to VPs, Product Owners, and other non-technical stakeholders. Core Responsibilities Translate business requests into clearly scoped data problems, deliverables, and success measures Build and evaluate machine learning models using classification, regression, clustering, and tree-based methods Apply statistical inference and hypothesis testing to large, messy operational datasets Develop production-quality Python pipelines and maintainable, documented code Query and analyze data from SQL Server and Oracle Create Tableau dashboards with a focus on usability, performance, and leadership reporting Develop Splunk SPL searches and dashboards to investigate operational data Monitor deployed pipelines, models, and dashboards for data drift, performance changes, and other issues Present findings and recommendations in clear business terms to VPs, Product Owners, and non-technical audiences Use Git/GitLab to manage code changes and version control Required Skills/Experience (Must-Haves) Strong Python skills with pandas, NumPy, and scikit-learn, plus at least one of statsmodels, TensorFlow, or PyTorch Experience querying and working with SQL Server and Oracle Tableau dashboard development, including usability, performance, and executive reporting Splunk experience with SPL searches and operational dashboards Statistical inference and hypothesis testing on large operational datasets Machine learning knowledge across classification, regression, clustering, and tree-based models Git/GitLab version control and experience writing maintainable, documented code Strong communication skills with experience presenting technical findings to leadership and working directly with VPs and Product Owners Preferred Skills/Experience (Nice-to-Haves) NLP experience with transformers, HuggingFace, topic modeling, embeddings, or semantic search MLOps experience with Prefect, Airflow, Docker, or GitLab CI/CD Time series analysis on high-volume event data Vector database experience with ChromaDB, Pinecone, or FAISS Alteryx experience, particularly supporting migration to Python Streamlit and
REST API
experience with Jira, Tableau, or Splunk Experience with GCS, AWS, or Azure Snowflake experience Key Competencies & Behaviors Ability to work through ambiguous business requests with limited direction. Strong business judgment when defining data problems and interpreting results. Ownership of production pipelines, models, and dashboards from development through ongoing monitoring. Ability to explain complex technical concepts in language leadership can act on. Attention to code quality, documentation, and long-term maintainability.

The approximate pay range for this position is between $39.00 and $57.00. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and location. We comply with local wage minimums.
