Modeling & Simulation Integration Engineer - Digital Engineering Signature Solutions, Inc. (SSI) is seeking a Modeling & Simulation Integration Engineer to support air and missile defense customers in modeling, simulation, and system analysis activities used to assess weapon system performance. This position combines modeling and simulation, digital engineering, technical data management, and systems integration. The selected candidate will work with multidisciplinary engineering data and subject-matter experts to develop, manage, integrate, and verify the technical information required by high-fidelity simulation environments. The position is well suited for an engineer who enjoys working across technical disciplines, organizing complex engineering information, developing repeatable data workflows, and understanding how individual engineering inputs ultimately affect simulation and weapon-system performance. Responsibilities The selected candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team of engineers and scientists supporting missile defense modeling, simulation, and analysis.
Responsibilities may include:
Developing and maintaining simulation-ready technical data packages containing multidisciplinary engineering data required by modeling and simulation tools. Driving strategic solutions for data ingestion, storage, transformation, and verification/validation. Supporting the application and development of AI tools to enhance digital data management, simulation workflows, automation, and technical analysis. Working closely with modeling and simulation experts, systems engineers, software developers, and technical subject matter experts to understand simulation data requirements while maintaining data integrity throughout the simulation lifecycle. Developing proficiencies in missile defense simulation environment execution and analysis. Integrating engineering data from multiple technical disciplines and sources into structured simulation inputs. Supporting verification and validation (V&V) of engineering data and simulation inputs. Working closely with modeling and simulation engineers, systems engineers, software developers, analysts, and technical subject-matter experts to understand and implement simulation data requirements. Maintaining data integrity and traceability throughout the modeling and simulation lifecycle. Supporting configuration management and controlled evolution of simulation data packages as systems, threats, and engineering source data change. Developing tools and automated workflows that improve simulation data preparation, management, verification, and analysis. Supporting system-level modeling and analysis used to evaluate weapon system performance. Documenting data sources, assumptions, transformations, configurations, methodologies, and technical conclusions. Communicating technical findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership. Desired Technical Background Candidates should have experience or academic background in several of the following areas: Modeling and simulation Digital engineering Systems engineering Engineering data management Verification and validation (V&V) Configuration management and data traceability Data processing and automation Missile defense or air and missile defense systems Weapon system performance analysis Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning tools applied to engineering workflows Experience with all areas is not required. Candidates with strong engineering fundamentals, analytical ability, and an interest in developing expertise in missile defense modeling and simulation are encouraged to apply. Software and Data Skills Experience developing or working with engineering software, technical data systems, or automated analysis workflows is desired.
Useful experience may include:
MATLAB Python Engineering scripting and automation Structured technical data and data transformation Engineering databases and data repositories Version control and configuration management AI-assisted engineering and data-analysis tools The ability to understand technical information from multiple engineering disciplines and translate that information into organized, repeatable, and technically defensible simulation inputs is particularly valuable. Qualifications Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline. 0 to 10 years' experience will be considered. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to understand and work with multidisciplinary engineering data Ability to organize complex technical information and maintain data traceability Ability to work effectively with engineers, scientists, software developers, analysts, and technical subject-matter experts Strong written and verbal technical communication skills Ability to communicate technical concepts and findings to both technical and non-technical audiences Experience in air and missile defense simulations is a plus. Experience with Jira, Git, and Gitlab is a plus. Active DoD security clearance is a plus. Experience with modeling and simulation, digital engineering, systems engineering, missile defense, technical data management, software development, or engineering analysis is preferred. About the Role This position is not primarily a traditional software-development or database-administration role. The focus is on understanding engineering data and integrating that data into technically accurate, controlled, and usable representations for modeling and simulation. The engineer serves as a bridge between technical subject-matter experts and the simulation environment—understanding what the engineering data represents, how it must be transformed for simulation use, how it should be verified, and how changes must be managed throughout the simulation lifecycle. The position provides an opportunity to gain broad exposure to missile defense systems and high-fidelity simulation while working across multiple technical disciplines. It is particularly suited for an engineer who enjoys seeing the connections between individual engineering data elements and overall weapon-system performance.
