Job Description
Starbucks is seeking a Principal Engineer, AI Sourcing & Procurement to lead AI-powered solutions that transform how we source ingredients, equipment, and packaging worldwide. You will design and implement ML models for demand forecasting, supplier optimization, and cost/sustainability tradeoffs, partnering with Supply Chain, Finance, and Technology teams. You'll own technical strategy, mentor engineers, and ensure scalable, secure platforms that support ethical sourcing and resilience. This role blends deep AI expertise with procurement domain knowledge to drive measurable business impact in a values-driven, inclusive environment. Responsibilities Define and lead the AI/ML strategy for Starbucks' global sourcing and procurement functions. Design, build, and deploy models for demand forecasting, supplier optimization, and cost/sustainability tradeoffs. Partner with Supply Chain, Finance, and Technology teams to translate business needs into scalable AI solutions. Architect data pipelines and platforms to support high-quality, secure, and reliable procurement analytics. Measure and communicate business impact of AI initiatives, including savings, risk reduction, and resilience. Mentor engineers and data scientists, promoting best practices in ML engineering and MLOps. Ensure solutions align with Starbucks' ethical sourcing, sustainability, and compliance standards. Collaborate with product and program leaders to prioritize roadmaps and manage delivery of AI capabilities.
