Job Description

ACTFORE delivers AI/ML-powered data mining solutions that help legal teams, insurers, and corporations respond to cyber incidents with unmatched speed and accuracy. Our Data Science team ingests and prepares client data so the rest of ACTFORE can analyze it fast and accurately. As a Jr. Data Scientist, you build and maintain the Python workflows that clean, structure, and validate data at scale. This is a hands-on, individual-contributor role focused on data preparation and process improvement, with room to grow into more advanced modeling and automation work over time.
Job Summary:
The Jr. Data Scientist prepares, cleans, and processes data for analysis, working across structured and unstructured sources to build automation workflows and strengthen data processes. Over time, this role also contributes ideas and solutions to make ACTFORE's data operations more efficient.
Compensation:
$60,000-$65,000 annual salary depending on experience. Annual bonus and equity earned based on performance Eligible for company benefits (medical, dental, vision, and more details provided during the interview process)
Typical Schedule:
Onsite in Reston, VA (in‑office presence required) Full-time role with standard operating hours M-F 9-5:30. This position may require the employee to remain in the office beyond standard working hours until all essential duties and assignments are completed. Work hours may vary depending on workload and business needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Build and maintain Python workflows for text and data processing Review and validate extracted data for accuracy Collaborate with data engineering and IT teams to ensure data is available and reliable Support improvements to data science workflows and best practices Document methods, assumptions, and limitations of data processes Monitor data quality and ensure integrity across sources You will be a fit if: Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field 2+ years of experience working with data analytics tools, including hands-on data cleaning, preprocessing, and feature engineering Proficiency in Python is required to build and maintain workflows Strong MS Excel skills, including advanced formulas, functions, and macros Basic knowledge of SQL for data querying and manipulation Knowledge of PII, PHI, GDPR, FERPA, or other data privacy regulations is a plus Exposure to AI, machine learning, or deep learning is a plus Experience with text processing or natural language processing is preferred
