SUMMARY:
SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Health Information Management Director, the ODS Team Lead provides day-to-day leadership, technical guidance, workflow coordination, and quality oversight for the Oncology Data Specialist team. This role supports accurate and timely case finding, abstracting, staging, follow-up, data submission, reporting, accreditation readiness, and oncology program quality activities. The ODS Team Lead serves as a subject matter expert for cancer registry standards and helps ensure registry operations comply with Commission on Cancer, state cancer registry, NAACCR, SEER, AJCC, NCRA, and organizational requirements.
EXPERIENCE
Three years of cancer registry, oncology data abstraction, health information management, coding, quality reporting, or related healthcare experience required; five years preferred. Prior lead, preceptor, project coordination, audit, or supervisory experience preferred. Experience with electronic health records (Cerner Oracle), registry software, cancer staging, abstracting standards, quality review, regulatory data submission, and accreditation standards strongly preferred.
SPECIAL SKILLS
Requires the ability to coach staff, prioritize work, resolve technical questions, monitor productivity, support change management, and escalate operational or compliance concerns appropriately.
OTHER:
Requires advanced analytical ability, attention to detail, confidentiality, organization, independent judgment, customer service, and effective written and verbal communication with team members, clinicians, leadership, committees, and external registry partners.
LICENSE/CERT
Required:
CTR (Certified Tumor Registrar)
Preferred:
RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator), RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician)
