Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or its equivalent. One (1) year of general office experience, including customer service. Applicants with knowledge of the election process are preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted. It is the policy of Allegheny County that in order to receive a final offer of employment, candidates must successfully pass a background check, which includes verification of Allegheny County Real Estate Tax status.
Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Manager and Supervisor of Voter Registration, the incumbent primarily assists in maintaining the Allegheny County file of Registered Voters. This position will be required to work overtime during the elections and on weekends when necessary.
Overview:
Duties:
Maintains district registers of County voters by municipality. Enters data using the S.U.R.E. statewide system. Updates all identity and eligibility data of registered voters. Submits records to polling places during election cycles to record official votes to prove eligibility by verifying the individual's registration to vote in District Poll Books. Constructs District Poll Books and fills supply suitcases with election materials. Performs reconciliations on lists of Absentee Voters. Assists in the verification of votes at each election. Performs other elections-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of:
Basic clerical functions including operating office equipment.
Skill in:
Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to:
Communicate well, both orally and in writing. File and enter data efficiently. Be detail-oriented. Work well with others in a fast-paced office environment. Work overtime as needed, including weekends. Provide professional and courteous customer service.
Residency:
Allegheny County within 1 year.
Veterans' Preference:
Will be awarded to eligible candidates.
