Butler, PA 16001, USA Job Details Description Job Summary/Overall Objectives The Oncology Data Specialist reviews patient documentation and diagnostic information to analyze and abstract tumor data. Timely and accurate coding and staging of all cases is essential as well as the ability to identify treatment modalities utilizing specialized software. Compiles requests for data and statistics from the Cancer Registry for facility planning, administration and internal department requests according to established policies and procedures. Assists with and attends Cancer Committee and Tumor Board meetings. Maintains compliance with Cancer Registry related policies and procedures. Essential Job Functions- Accurately identifies all reportable cases for abstracting and obtains necessary information or clarification from physician.
- Responsible to document and maintain meeting minutes during weekly Tumor Board meetings and bi-annual Cancer Conferences
- Compiles requests for data and statistics from the Cancer Registry for facility planning, administration and internal department requests according to established policies and procedures.
- Remains current on requirements from the state for reporting, as well as emerging technology and terminology for the treatment of cancer.
- Performs other departmental duties as assigned by the department manager by following established guidelines to facilitate a productive an efficient department.

- High School Diploma, GED or higher level of education.
- Experience in a healthcare environment. Preferred Qualifications/Experience
- Associate's degree or higher level of education.
- Certified Tumor Registrar from the National Cancer Registrar's Association of America.
- Prior experience in tumor registry
- Medical Terminology License, Certification & Clearances
- PA Act 34 Pennsylvania Access to Criminal History Clearance required. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
- Incumbent will be scheduled based on operational need (rotate shifts, standby, on-call, etc.).
- Travel may be expected locally between System locations.
