Summary:
This is an opportunity to work for a national organization that provides public health data and surveillance analysis to various entities (e.g., government, academia, media, and private sector). America's Poison Centers (formerly known as the American Association of Poison Control Centers - AAPCC) owns the National Poison Data System® (NPDS), the only comprehensive, near real-time database of toxic exposure data collected by all 50 states and territories. We are seeking a healthcare professional to support America's Poison Centers' national programs, partnerships, and public health initiatives. The Clinical Data Associate will contribute clinical expertise in toxicology, support educational and scientific content development, assist with NPDS data interpretation and reporting activities, and collaborate with internal and external partners on projects that advance the mission of America's Poison Centers.
Our Organization:
America's Poison Centers is a 501(c)(3) organization that represents the nation's 53 Poison Centers (PCs) that provide expert toxicological information and treatment advice to the public, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The PCs upload their case data to NPDS approximately every 8 minutes. Within NPDS there are more than 86 million case records with product-specific case data on more than 500,000 products and, there are tools capable of detecting/tracking poison exposure outbreaks. Each year, PCs manage more than 3.25 million cases about medications, consumer products, animals, environmental hazards, food-related, and other healthcare issues. America's Poison Centers also accredits PCs, certifies specialists in poison information, and coordinates national-level poison education and prevention programs. America's Poison Centers partners with federal agencies such as HRSA, CDC, and FDA, as well as private industry and academia, to support public health initiatives and risk assessments (opioids, GLP-1's, nicotine pouches, etc.).
Position Description:
The Clinical Data Associate reports to the Clinical Managing Director and supports America's Poison Centers' national initiatives through clinical expertise, toxicology knowledge, content development and data analysis. Working collaboratively with America's Poison Centers staff, poison center members, committees, federal partners, researchers, and other stakeholders, this position contributes to projects that advance poison prevention, public and professional education, and public health surveillance. Key responsibilities will include the duties below: 1. Provide clinical toxicology expertise and consultation to support data licensing, projects, and partnerships. 2. Develop and review educational, scientific, and public-facing materials to ensure accuracy and evidence-based content. 3. Support public health surveillance activities using the National Poison Data System. 4. Assist with training, education, and professional development programs for Poison Center personnel and healthcare professionals. 5. Contribute to research activities, including data interpretation, abstract development, manuscript preparation, and conference presentations. 6. Participate in committees, workgroups, and project teams. 7. Perform other mission-related and operational duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Licensed healthcare professional (Pharm
D, RN, NP, PA
) Minimum of 3-5 years of clinical experience. Strong knowledge of clinical toxicology. Experience reviewing, developing, or managing clinical and scientific content. Excellent written, verbal, organizational, and project management skills. While not required, special consideration will be given for candidates with: Experience working as a Specialist in Poison Information (SPI), clinical toxicologist, or working in critical care or emergency medicine. MPH, MS, or equivalent graduate education in Public Health, Epidemiology, Data Analytics, or a related field. Experience with poison center data systems, NPDS, toxicovigilance, toxicosurveillance, or public health surveillance activities. Experience supporting federal grants, contracts, cooperative agreements, or public health initiatives. Pay:
$90,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
