In this role, the Data Center Technician will be responsible for the installation, wiring, and maintenance of various low voltage systems, such as data networks, security systems, fire alarms, and audio-visual systems. This is a hands-on position that involves running and terminating low voltage cables, installing devices like cameras, sensors, panels, and switches, and performing basic testing to ensure all systems are functioning as expected. The successful candidate will work closely under the supervision of senior technicians to ensure all installations are completed according to industry standards, safety protocols, and building codes.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with the installation and wiring of low voltage systems, including CCTV cameras, access control systems, fire alarms, and data networks. Run, pull, and terminate low voltage cables such as Cat5e, Cat6, coaxial cables, and fiber optics. Install devices like cameras, sensors, control panels, switches, and outlets as part of various low voltage system setups. Perform basic testing to ensure proper functionality and correct wiring of low voltage systems. Maintain a clean, organized work environment and ensure all tools and materials are properly stored. Follow safety protocols and ensure all installations are done in compliance with industry regulations and building codes. Assist senior technicians with troubleshooting and minor repairs of low voltage systems. Provide support with system setup and configuration, working closely with the team under supervision. Document work performed, including cable paths, system configurations, and any issues resolved during installation. Contribute to site cleanup efforts and ensure that work areas are left safe and tidy at the end of each day.Requirements:
Basic knowledge of low voltage systems and installation techniques. Familiarity with low voltage cables including Cat5e, Cat6, RG6, and fiber optics. Ability to read and follow wiring diagrams and technical manuals to complete installations of low voltage systems. Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn new skills related to low voltage technologies. Experience working in a data center environment. Comfort working at heights, on ladders, and in confined spaces as part of routine installation tasks. Physical ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and materials as needed for system installations. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Strong communication skills, the ability to follow instructions, and work collaboratively with the team. Basic troubleshooting skills with a strong eagerness to develop expertise in low voltage systems.
