POSITION SUMMARY
Herschend is seeking a skilled Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable data solutions that support analytics and business intelligence initiatives. This role focuses on implementing modern data architectures, including medallion patterns, to facilitate the delivery of high-quality datasets for reporting and visualization in Power BI. Experience with Microsoft Fabric is a strong plus.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Design and implement data pipelines following medallion architecture principles. Develop, optimize, and maintain ETL/ELT processes for ingesting and transforming structured and unstructured data. Build and manage data models that support reporting and analytics in Power BI. Collaborate with business stakeholders, analysts, and data scientists to translate requirements into scalable data solutions. Ensure data quality, integrity, and governance across all layers of the data platform. Optimize database performance and troubleshoot issues in Microsoft SQL Server environments. Implement best practices for data security, access control, and compliance. Document data flows, architecture, and processes for maintainability and knowledge sharing.
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience. Proven experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including T-SQL, stored procedures, and performance tuning. Experience designing and implementing medallion architecture. Solid experience with Power BI, including dataset modeling, DAX, and report optimization. Proficiency in building and managing ETL/ELT processes using pipelines and Spark. Strong understanding of modern data warehousing concepts and dimensional modeling. Experience working with large datasets and distributed data systems. Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Preferred:
Experience with Microsoft Fabric.
Preferred:
Experience with data lake technologies and modern data platforms.
Preferred:
Knowledge of Python, Spark, or similar tools for data processing.
Preferred:
Exposure to CI/CD practices for data pipelines.
Nice to have:
Experience with real-time or streaming data pipelines.
Nice to have:
Certifications related to data engineering or business intelligence tools.
