POSITION PURPOSE
To provide installation, maintenance, and operational data center support. May provide limited customer related support services. Duties involve maintaining optimally controlled environments for colocation/server operations. This includes but is not limited to the mechanical and electrical control systems, access control system, video system, cross connects and building safety control systems.
Knowledge & Skills:
Electrical and/or mechanical repair and installation experience. Basic network skills (OSI Layers 1-3, Ethernet standards, RJ45, single mode fiber) Computer operating system familiarity - Windows Knowledge of enterprise servers and networking equipment. Excellent listening, oral, and written communication skills with a proactive approach to customer support and service with an outgoing, approachable, and friendly personality. Ability to follow procedures, handle concurrent assignments and able to work effectively under pressure. Self-motivated with the ability to make sound decisions under minimal supervision. Ability to lift 50 lbs. Knowledge of basic electrical requirements and conversions (i.e. Kilowatts, Amps, phases, etc.) Able to work in a team environment. Familiarization with the installation and removal of IT hardware, communications equipment and cabling, basic device configuration and the ability to perform basic troubleshooting and repair of equipment and cabling failures.
Preferred Knowledge & Experience:
Previous operations, maintenance, and repair experience in a 24x7 operating environment. Related mechanical, electrical and or networking technical certifications.
Residency Requirements:
Preferably reside within 10-mile radius of the Data Center
PRIMARY RESPONSIBLILITES
: Monitor, analyze and resolve mechanical, electrical, and monitoring issues in a timely manner with supervision and guidance. Coordinate and perform company and customer installations, testing and acceptance. Conduct daily site walkthroughs including event log entries. Conduct supervised generator run and load tests, including event log entries. Responsible for site maintenance and documentation, including but not limited to Method of Procedures (MOPS), testing acceptance, cross connect/port assignments, Building Management System (BMS), Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) system, access control system, internal network and customer cross connect services. This position will work closely with other employees and Customers. Will oversee contractor activities to ensure compliance. A high degree of detail with frequent supervisor follow-up is required. Serve as on-site point of contact. Assures adherence to company policies, procedures, and safety rules. Willingness to respond to network and infrastructure errors after hours.
